Work with Jack Composting Workshop – 1-14-23
UPDATE – I have filled up this workshop, if you email me now I can only put you on a wait list (3 on it already) incase folks cancel.
Last year I took the Johnson Su Bioreactor method of composting and simplified it, the results were well amazing. I basically cut out anything and everything I thought could be cut and gave it a go. Again the results were amazing but I also determined just a few more steps added back in would be even better.
My method even with a few more steps added back in is so simple compared to the original version it will blow you away. Anyone can do this, with any composting material.
To do this I empty the deep litter in my duck coop one time a year, yep only one time. This results in 3 compost piles of about a cubic yard each. It is a dramatically simple process, involving one day of actual work and the system does it all after that. If we have 6-8 TSP folks come to this it won’t even seem like work. I did it myself last year in about 6 hours including drinking some beers and taking quite a few breaks.
Now that I have the method perfected I am willing to teach it to others. If you are local to DFW this will be a fun half day event. As long as I get say half a dozen folks I expect it to go fast enough that we will also do some other things like an over view of the garden and aquatic plans for 2023 where I will so a walk though on these systems. We will also prep one small organic matter swale when doing the composting.
What’s the cost? I am keeping it cheap and spending the money right back on you guys to boot. 20 bucks, that’s it and no deposit required. To sing up all you do is email me at jack@thesurvivalpodcast.com with TSPC Compost in the subject line and I will send back time and directions to my place. The timeline right now is going to be show up at 10AM and it should last about 4 hours, ending around 2PM.
That 20 bucks will provide lunch in the form of a very meat heavy BBQ dinner, like I said we are putting the 20 bucks into food and some beers, etc. In return you will see exactly how I make the best compost I have ever made in my life, meet some other cool folks and get a walk through of two of my systems.
Again if you want to attend just email me at jack@thesurvivalpodcast.com with TSPC Compost in the subject line and I’ll get back to you with the info you need.
I don’t know that 12 people will want to come to this given the time of year but that will be the cap on the event to keep it from getting too large.
P.S. – January weather in this area can be okay, beautiful or total crap. The weekend of the 14th works the best for us but weather reports don’t go out that far. If shitty weather comes we will cancel and reschedule. But since you won’t pay until you show up, it won’t matter if the rain date doesn’t work for you.
Any chance you’ll do a video for those not local but interested in duplicating the setup?
