Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 2:42:51 — 46.6MB)
Today on TSPC we welcome Mollie Engelhart. I first met Mollie at Exit and Build last year, where we were both speaking about building resilient systems for a better future.
Mollie is a mother of five, a regenerative farming advocate, and an entrepreneur. She owns two regenerative farms, one in California and one in Texas, as well as four vegan restaurants, including Sage Vegan Bistro, co-owned with actor Woody Harrelson.
Mollie’s passion lies in creating sustainable food systems, reducing waste, and teaching others how to grow their own food. In this episode, we’ll discuss the importance of regenerative agriculture, building a circular economy, and how natural, holistic families play a role in sustainability.
Mollie also shares her thoughts on why states like California are becoming uninvestable and what preserving American freedoms truly means. Tune in for an inspiring conversation with someone who walks the talk every single day.
Today we discuss…
- Mollie’s journey from high end California Vegan chef to Texas based animal driven regenerative ag
- How California has become “uninvestable” much like NY, NJ, MA and IL
- The regenerative food loop, and why is it so essential to sustainable agriculture
- How food waste in landfills contributes to methane emissions, and what individuals and businesses can do to combat this
- How cover crops build rich topsoil, prevent flooding, and address climate challenges
- The role of carbon and moisture sequestration in regenerative agriculture, and how cover crops enhance this process
- How Mollie connects her regenerative farms with her restaurants to create a functional circular economy
- The challenges and benefits that Mollie has encountered in integrating farming and food production into a single system.
- Why natural and holistic family lifestyles align so well with regenerative principles.
- How Mollie responds to the argument that reducing family size is necessary to address climate change.
- Practical steps that families can take to live more holistically and contribute to a regenerative society
- How we can preserve the many unique freedoms Americans take for granted and how the left “lost” Mollie
- Advice from Mollie for those looking to start their own journey in regenerative farming or sustainable living
