Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes.
Today’s episode with an all new introduction was originally Episode-2601- 6 Underrated Old School Rifle Cartridges and first aired on Feb. 15th, 2020.
The following are the original show notes from that episode
I can hear some of you already, “hey Jack you big jerk, just read those bullet point below, three of em are pistol rounds”. Simmer down there partner you will find examples of rifles firing all of them below. And as we will discuss today, they are all in a way “different rounds” when fired from a rifle then when fired from your 4 inch wheel gun.
Anyway I have been thinking that we have not done a lot of stuff on guns lately. If you are new to firearms or new to ballistics and components you may want to listen to yesterdays Rewind Episode here before this one.
The key here is new super duper rounds keep coming out all the time. The way the gun magazines and blogs write about them you’d think deer now wear body armor and that our grandfathers were hunting with cap guns. But I am here to tell you, the old, boring, strait body rounds are just as deadly as they have ever been. They cost little to reload, are reliable as can be and they don’t beat you up on a full range day. Okay the 45-70 can beat you up, but the key is, it doesn’t have to.
Today we discuss these old reliable rounds, what they are best for, some of the available guns that are still chambered for them, reloading for them and more.
