Today is an episode of TSP Rewind, commercial free versions of past podcast episodes.
Today’s episode was originally Episode-2792- Growing Your Own Poultry Feed and was originally published on December 14th 2020.
This series of rewinds running from Oct. 19th – 29th will be a skill set based rewind series.
All episodes will be dedicated to improving skill sets and knowledge base.
The following are the original show notes from that episode.
A recent video from “Ice Age Farmer” made the case that we will have a dire shortage of soy beans in the coming year, other grains as well especially soy. I checked into it and I have to say for the US market I am not highly concerned. I don’t think the soy boys will need to give up their lattes in 2021.
His point was well beyond soy milk and the lot though and to animal feed. I do have to say he is not totally wrong and I expect flat our famine in the 3rd world in the new year. Of course I said this back in April when the lock down lunacy started. It was not hard to see coming.
I also think Ice Age Farmer is right that they have a shortage in China and are buying it like crazy from the US, reducing our reserves. While I don’t think we will be without soy in 2021 we may see prices go up and if the 2021 crop is not good, we could have real long term issues ahead.
In any event growing your own food is a good thing, so is growing your own live stock feed.

Raising insects for your birds is easy & cheap. Madagascar hissing cockroaches are prolific and high in protein, comparitvly. I raised them as reptile feeders. It’s done in a tote.
