Doctor Slick Scissor Clamps – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Note – After using this for a year of real world fishing, I now have an even higher opinion of them then when I first used them.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Doctor Slick Scissor Clamps. These are basically a high end beefed up set of hemostats with an integrated scissor function. Note that when I say beefed up I am not kidding, I would say that are about twice as beefy as a standard set of hemostats.
I have paired these with my favorite “zinger” made by Boomerang Tool Company because otherwise I know me and I know I will lose them, likely on the first trip.
These tools come in many configurations of different lengths and jaw shape. I went with 6.5″ and strait jaws because they seemed like the best fit for me. What I love about hemostats in general over pliers for hook removal is they clamp on, this lets you work various angles and often get a hook out where a fish can survive when it was likely that it was hooked to deep and was going to die.
There are three additional tools in this item…
- Serrated Scissors – for line trimming, etc. They work great, don’t believe the moron reviews that say they don’t cut braided line. I don’t know what type of crayon eaters are doing Amazon reviews today but as you will see they cut braid like butter.
` - Hook Eye Clearing Spike – Built into the handle and it clears that paint off those jig heads perfectly and is recessed so it won’t catch on stuff when stored.
` - A Flat Tip Screwdriver – Not a replacement for a normal one but great for tightening stuff up on a reel in the field, prying stuff open, etc.
I know it is hard to justify the price in your head when you can buy a 4-pack of cheap hemostats for 9 bucks. And you know what, those are fine too, I keep some in my fishing bags because I would rather have something and not need it then need something and not have it. But the Dr. Slick Tool is frankly named right it is just slick. See the video for more on this tool and consider adding one to your fishing gear today.
