Glen is a former TSP Forum moderator, author of the ten-book prepper novel series 299 Days, and now is the co-host of Prepping 2.0, a podcast for those taking their preps to the next level.
Glen joins us today to discuss Pepping 2.0 as a concept. To Glen Prepping 1.0 is getting some beans, rice, and an AR-15. That’s good. But Prepping 2.0 is filling in the gaps of your preps. W discuss new technologies and things that have come down in cost since Glen started off as 1.0 Prepper type. Glen also tells us what he has learned, often the hard way, in the 10 years we’ve been prepping.
We also discuss Glen’s new podcast and radio show he is doing with his co-host is Shelby Gallagher. Shelby is his new wife and the author of the prepper novel series A Great State.

Nice to hear from Mr. ‘Tate’, it’s been a while =)
I’ve often said that my wife and I would move back to Texas if they ever actually chose to secede. Which has me thinking…
So, as a thought exercise, what would that actually look like from the standpoint of citizenship and immigration for the nation of Texas? I’d imagine it’s not something people could immediately do. I’m guessing there would be a large migration of people both in and out of Texas, how would that be handled? Would they have to “build a wall?” (Mostly joking.) Who is granted citizenship and how? Would there be a requirement of being a prior Texas resident?
Thoughts?

Completely missed that one, thanks Jack!
Before the Asian Exclusion Act of 1882, the United States basically had no federal immigration laws. (Because immigration unlike naturalization is not an enumerated power.)
Citizenship in the newly independant state could be handled like the Naturalization Acts of the 1790s.
The Naturalization Act of 1790 set the criteria for naturalization to two years of residency, proof of good moral character, and an oath to support the Constitution upon application to any common law court of record in any state the immigrant had resided for at least a year. In 1795, the necessary period of residence was increased to five years.
You know what else we didn’t have at that time, welfare.
@Burger1918, us too, if Louisiana didn’t follow.
Good interview. I’m now on Audible Book V.
Man, I’m behind on the podcasts…
The term you’re looking for here is “Balkanization”. I read a really interesting fiction book with this premise a while back called “The Star Fraction” by Ken Macleod. It’s set in a future UK where the country (and most of the rest of the world) had broken down into various microstates, some of which aren’t much more than neighborhoods of like-minded people and others are at a more highly organized level. They’re all kind of hyper-politicized with some of them being formed around very narrow niche dogma. Private security forces abound, most of them are hostile to one another. There is a “one world” government that mostly watches everything but doesn’t act on anything unless someone/some group treads into one of their forbidden areas of research which earns you a swift, no-due-process death by orbital laser platform. Sounds like a fun place!
Good interview.
