Episode-2071- Struggles in Homesteading and Lessons Learned with Julia Mason
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (20.5MB)
Julia Mason has been involved in animal husbandry to one extent or another for her whole life, yet when she and her then fiance, Nicholas, began accumulating livestock and trying to homestead in earnest, they made a whole slew of mistakes.
She would like to share some of their stories of failure and success to hopefully inspire and teach about what they have learned over the last five years. In that time Julia and Nicholas have raised goats, dairy cattle, pigs, sheep, meat rabbits, chickens, ducks, livestock guardian dogs and had their first child.
Julia is currently recently gave birth to their second child, and Nicholas is now self employed as a contractor; they are now working to try and get financing to buy their own property for the first time, a somewhat daunting task in the Californian infested Great Northwest.
