Podcast: Play in new window | Download (19.5MB)
Today Stewart Rhodes founder of Oath Keepers joins us on The Survival Podcast to discuss the fight to restore our Constitutional Republic to its roots.
Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving and prior service military, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the oath they swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.
Oath Keepers believes that our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.
The Oath Keepers have drawn a line in the sand. They will not “just follow orders.” The Oath Keeper motto is “Not on our watch!”

I have struggled for a long time with my term of service and the oath I took. I have felt a responsibility but I could not tell to what or whom. It was not until recently when posed with a question concerning the 2nd Amendment that I revisited this subject. This was a very educational show and has given me a lot to think about, thank you.
Jack best interview yet. Some of our most feared people are within our border,s.It,s good that Stewart and other,s like him want to and will stand up for other,s.I 1st seen the shrinkage several year,s ago with charcoal used to be 20 pound,s now it,s 18.
Good show, and important issues to think about…now, not when something bad happens.
Powerful interview, Jack. I think this show will answer some questions that many have, concerning our future as a nation. Thanks, for honoring your Oath to support the Constitution.
educational
Jack, wonderful show! Thanks again for all you do!
Jack,
Great show today!! I can’t express how much I loved it. It got me to thinking about my preps. I’ve also been wanting to say this for a while now. I know your busy with the big move. But, I’m really waiting for you to put out your book on Modern Survivalism. I know your busy. So all in good time, but I think it will be great.
Thanks,
Bryan from Nevada
Great show as uaual. Our oath is the standard we all live by, and now more than ever we must look within, prepare, and stand strong for the principles that made our country great, not what it is becoming today.
Hey Jack, great show today. Your voice is improving for sure.
I wanted to add that along with military and law enforcement, a Notary Public takes the same oath as they are considered “Officers of the State.”
Great interview Jack! The discussion of hyperinflation is disturbing. It is hard to work on our preps when I lost my job in last Dec.

Great info. We need to devolve power from the Fed. We have been too long looking for ease in life instead of liberty. While we slept others have been slowly stealing our freedoms. Wake up America.
On the militias, I think this is the right direction. Private militias need to join into the state militias. Ham radio operators need to step up and fill the commo needs of the units.
Way to go Jack. You hit it out of the ballpark with this one.
Wow. What an articulate man. Outstanding interview. This might be the first episode I listen to twice in a row.
I have been a member of Oath Keepers for over 2 years.

Great show! I was really blown away by the prepping parallels that oathkeepers group has. Loved hearing some of the information about the militia groups also. I just signed up on the oathkeepers website to get more connected with their grup. Also I got notice that Stewart Rhodes is in Dallas this weekend, supposed to meet up with him tomorrow night, pretty excited about that.
… and that’s sayin’ something.
Not only informative, but great how you two wove modern survivalism into the Oath Keepers mission.
I just wish I was current or prior military/LEO/first responder so I could join.
@Heavy G, But you can join as a Associate (Citizen, not prior service). You can select any membership type you want and then select “Associate” as your membership type. All the options are on this page,

I thought the first 50 minutes or so were fantastic. I enjoyed hearing the way Oathkeepers and TSP members line up. I guess common sense is common among the sensible. I am a big fan of Jack’s BUT I would have liked to have heard more from Stewart in the last part of this episode. I felt like he wasn’t able to get a word in towards the end other than “that’s correct”. I think Mr. Rhodes has much more to share and I hope he returns soon.
Keep these excellent guests coming!
I had one question I didn’t hear an answer to. What happens when the county and state are the ones doing the unconstitutional actions prompting the Feds to come in? It has happened before. Certainly the locals are responsible to make the changes but what if they don’t? I can also see that trumped up charges could be made that are just that, that the county or state is unconstitutionally depriving citizens of their right to ‘fill in the blank’ and the Feds need to step in. What then?
Our Sheriff is not on board with oath keepers and would be a toady for the Feds. We need a new Sheriff in Boone County, Missouri.
@Greg,
Actually you just pointed out exactly how our government is supposed to function. Rather then violation of the constitution the place for Federal supremacy is protection of it. The states and the feds are supposed to be checks on each other with the people acting as the ultimate check.
Nothing will change until we stop teaching our kids that the nation is a democracy. We are NOT a democracy, we are a republic. What you just described is how a republic is supposed to function.
In a republic rights of the people come before the desire of the majority or the needs or wants of the government. ~ Jack Spirko
Hello, great show !
I am in total support of what Oathkeepers stands for – and am glad for their increase in prominence, of late. And the hour is very late.
I also think Greg asks a ‘tough question’, in the post above, to requote him:
I had one question I didn’t hear an answer to. What happens when the county and state are the ones doing the unconstitutional actions prompting the Feds to come in? It has happened before. Certainly the locals are responsible to make the changes but what if they don’t? I can also see that trumped up charges could be made that are just that, that the county or state is unconstitutionally depriving citizens of their right to ‘fill in the blank’ and the Feds need to step in. What then?
Greg, here is my answer, as I’ve pondered this question many times, and that is that standing up for Liberty is every citizens job, but the courage to do it, to face amazing pressure, only comes from those who see it as a ‘Divine Duty’ – meaning you & I do it as ‘unto the LORD’.
In other words, we can’t wait for or expect local officials to stand up for Liberty – we do pray they will, if for no other reason than the for the self interest of their own families & communities – but that’s no guarantee.
Our nation has fallen from God’s grace – pure & simple. I speak ‘as of a whole’ – the average person has been conditioned to feel so disconnected & at odds with others, that his mentality becomes a barbaric ‘dog eat dog’ and Darwinistic & Collectivist.
This isn’t a problem with ‘them, it’s a problem with “Us or We’, we’ve all been so conditioned to think in these terms, of only seeing life in humanistic terms.
One example being how both political parties claim to oppose each other, but they both move closer to Tyranny with every passing year.
It’s because a ‘fear of the LORD’ and love of Christ in the heart of every man, woman & child, is a pre-requisite for a respect for what the Founding Fathers held as, “Liberty, under the Law’ – and this only comes from Spiritual strength, and only when an individual honors the LORD as God (thus he won’t mistake Caesar – civil government – for ‘god walking on earth’), and loves his neighbor as himself.
It goes without saying that when that spirit prevails, of being our neighbor’s keeper, that tyranny will die & wither on the vine – as it’s only fuel is our selfishness & fear of evil, rather than a ‘fear of the LORD’ which saves us.
I’m not advising a mushy, ‘love everyone, even the evildoers’ attitude, far from it.
I am saying that the seed of the genuine seed of ‘(Biblical) republican virtue’ dies in the heart of a majority of Americans (even when a majority of them profess to be ‘christian’ and churches are full), no political party, no tea party movement, not even a ‘militia’ can save it.
I did connect the Scriptures with republican virtue as they’re inseparable.
See Deuteronomy, Chapter 1, then read Deuteronomy chapter 17, to see the big picture of a nation organized around this principle, chapter 17 is a close up of a Righteous leader – what he looks like (one that respects limits on his own power, because he truly ‘fears the LORD’).
I Samuel 8 tells the sad tale of a nation rejecting God as King & thus trading the life giving principle of ‘Liberty, under the law’ for nascent tyranny.
What your question really gets at (if you’ll allow me to re-phrase it slightly), is what do you do when you find out the tyrants are much closer at hand than just in DC or your state capitol, but rather in city hall, or just next door ?
And that’s the point, we have dishonesty, graft & corruption ‘over there’ because it comes from ‘over here’.
When once American Christians repent of our collective & personal idolatry, of putting Mammon (money, power, influence, & standing) before the self-sacrificing spirit of Jesus Christ, we will see tryanny leave these shores.
I’d close by referencing the fact that a revival of this same spirit I’m describing DID occur just preceeding the ‘War for American Independence’ in 1776.
It was the many courageous pastors answering the call to their duty – known collectively as the “Patriot Pulpit” that trumpeted the call to reject tyranny in British rule and declare (as did the Sam Admas & the Sons of Liberty), “No King, but King Jesus”.
If you think this is just wishful thinking, google ‘black regiment’ and do your own research. A modern day prophet along these lines is Dr. Chuck Baldwin – and he has a ministry that highlights this – even a sign-up web page for modern ‘Black Regiment’ pastors or those seeking them.

Jack, thanks for the space to comment, and for having Mr. Rhodes on to speak & share his urgent message. A bulwark against tyranny takes many forms, but righteousness must undergird any that will stand fast under stress & against evil.
The solution to our crisis is manyfold & comes from, to use terms found in the Declaration, from “the Law’s of Natue & of Nature’s God”, to Whom alone be glory, forever, Amen !

Gal 5:1 “Stand fast therefore, in the Liberty wherewith Christ has set you free; and do not become entangled again in the yoke of bondage….”
Well said. I agree and knew that to be true. My questions were more rhetorical in nature to see if the Oathkeepers had thought through the need to look themselves in the mirror too and be willing to purge their own ranks of false righteousness when it may occur. I have never respected the ‘My country, right or wrong’ attitude and it is no more attractive restated in a ‘My state/county, right or wrong’ format.
Missouri has done a lot of good things in recent years but even ‘our side’ has pushed through things like the “clone to kill” bill of fetal stem cell research by lying to the public to the point that the governor wouldn’t run for re-election because of his dirty part in it.
I really like the principle of the Oathkeepers and the trend for many states towards nullification but my point was that we must keep in mind we need to have our principles quided by truth and not just the self-interest of our states. Wisdom is often gained by the harsh experience of losing and then discovering it was good for you to lose. Germany and Japan likely have a wisdom that we don’t have in this manner.
