Some Announcements about the Spring Pond Workshop
First off while the workshop sold out, I had a couple who were coming together cancel due to a life event. This opened two spots as I announced on the show yesterday. I think I may have already sold one of them, if you want to get the remaining slot or slots, email me at jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com with TSPC Workshop in the subject line.
The one person that already contacted me has until COB today to sign up, if not I will have two seats if he does I will have one.
Next I wanted to tell you guys about the menu for Saturday. Saturday lunch is going to be simple but really great. I made a ton of venison and wild boar chili and it came out fantastic. Chef Michael just house sat for us and I challenged him to come up with a great corn bread to go with the chili. He brought me 8, yea 8 samples, the one I liked best is made with fresh jalapenos, whole corn and cheese. Don’t worry it isn’t that spicy and it will be amazing with the chili.
For dinner we are REALLY stepping it up this year. Dinner will be an assortment of game sausages, three in fact from D’Artagnan, one sausage each of Rabbit & Ginger, Venison & Cherry and Duck & Armagnac. Next up thanks to our good friend and sponsor Butcher Box we will be serving Grass Fed Smoked Prime Rib, yea I said Smoked Prime Rib!
Additionally we will be serving Nine Mile Farm Raised quail along with all awesome Cowboy Beans and more. Folks that is just lunch and dinner on Friday. Again if you are interested in one of the two open spots, just email me about them. Here is a short video on some of what we will be doing, lessons learned with the first pond and more. Below the video is some more info on the event.

This spring we are doing a smaller then normal workshop. Total students seats is only 18 vs. the 45-50 we normally sell. The workshop will be focused on building back yard garden ponds.
- Date Sign Ups Open – Saturday, March 2nd, at 10 AM Central Time
- Date of the Workshop – April, 25th and 26th. Students may camp over until the 27th.
- Cost of the Workshop – $300 – $150 due at deposit and $150 due when you show up.
- Location – Nine Mile Farm near Azle Texas. Closest Airport is DFW about a 45 minute drive.
This is going to be a far more intimate workshop then we normally do. With only 18 students and a staff of about 4 we will get plenty of time to talk in depth with everyone. Meals as always will be off the hook. Day one will be lunch and dinner and day two will be breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.
No concerts this time but we will be doing Barter Blanket Friday night. We will also be doing a beer/wine/mead tasting and just having a ton of fun.
This workshop will be 100% dedicated to the construction, design and management of small back yard ponds, 500-5000 gallons. We will be building from scratch a 12×12 pond holding about 3500-4000 gallons of water. We will cover construction, options for materials, plumbing and pump selection, habitat creation, biological and mechanical filtration and system cycling.
We will also discuss fish selection, fish kindergartens, growing aquatic vegetables, lighting and more. It is going to be one of the coolest workshops we have ever done. I estimate the entire project could be done in a day with this many students. So we will have plenty of cushion time to deal with whatever comes our way and lots of time to answer questions and help you with your own design and plans if you want to build a pond at your own homestead.

Are those spots still available? I’d like to come since we are in Irving through next week. Is the $300 per couple or per person?
