Dillon grew up in Mississippi before going to DC to serve in the Navy. In DC he designed and built nuclear reactors, which he has talked about on the show before, back on episode 2253. He grew up sailing and recently made a passage from Houston to New Orleans, which is what he’s here to talk about today.
He’s been listening to the show since 2010 somewhere in the neighborhood of episode 500 and has been engaging as a member of the community as Angusbangus via the blog, TSP and Facebook forums, Permaethos, 5min with Jack, Walking to Freedom, & MT Knives.
He designed his own avatar that marries Calico Jack’s Jolly Roger and the rattlesnake from the Navy Jack. Some say “Don’t Tread on Me”. Dillon prefers to live by the motto “Tread if you Dare”. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that to Mother Nature.
Dillon also happens to work for a company that provides grants for environmental projects, so we finish up with a segment on how to get grants and how to approach decision makers about them. So today is really a two fer.
