New Seeds from Baker Creek – Epi-3445
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:35:26 — 27.3MB)
Hi, my name is Jack and I am a seed addict. I have tried to get this monkey off my back for decades now. Every year about Christmas time when the mood shifts to getting ready for spring I say something like this to myself,
“This year I am just going to grow the 10 or so things that do really well with very little work for us that we use a lot of. Just like my grand paw used to do”.
About that time the dealers “pull me back in” and one of the worst offenders of the bunch is Baker Creek with their literal “crack level photography” in their annual catalog. Grandpaw you see, he didn’t have this problem. Two catalogs a year came back in the 80s, one from Parks and one from Burpee. They didn’t even phase the old man. I might pick an item or two from them, but he grew food for the table, period. He had been saving seeds for so long he barely bought anything.
But Grandpaw didn’t have a dealer you see. He didn’t have the addiction! Today I am calling a meeting of fellow addicts, not to break the addiction with a “12 step plan”. No we are going to spur it on with 15 amazing new things to grow in 2024. For this meeting all you need to do is show up, and by the way, unlike some meetings you will have to bring your own coffee.

Hey Jack. I think the oily film is what they use to release plastic from mold . I work in a tooling Company. Am I’m pretty sure that would be it .probably washes off easily
Likely but it is definitely an oil of some sort but yes rinsed very easily. Betting the how it got on there you are right about.
