Today I am joined by Karl Rev Hodl who is a long time show listener that I met via Nostr. Karl raises rabbits as part of his integrated systems approach on his homestead in a colony fashion. I have wanted to interview someone doing this for years. Don’t miss this one.

With over a decade of permaculture experience Rev.Hodl has been utilizing and applying the principles of permaculture to build the systems at his homestead. Starting from a poorly formed cornfield and neglected woodlot, the homestead now features silvopasture rotational sheep grazing, food forest, integrated rabbit colony cannabis garden.

Hw now has a 100+ tap maple syrup production, integrated Chicken horse manure composting system, vegetable gardens, fruit tree nursery, and more. As an apprentice of Earthship Biotech, Rev.Hodl has build a 20ft yurt, 20ft tiny house RV, pebble style rocket mass heater, many animal shelters and other structures around the homestead with provide utility. All using simple techniques, with reclaimed/recycled materials whenever possible.

In 2020 Rev.Hodl started integrating Bitcoin into the homestead leading to better market access for his goods and services via Bitcoin meetups. Beyond earning Bitcoin by selling products and services, Rev.Hodl has also taken an innovative approach to Bitcoin mining by applying permaculture to it. At the homestead Bitcoin miners are utilizing excess power from solar panels, heating living spaces, drying laundry, dehydrating food/medicine, growing plants, even aiding in maple syrup production.

Rev.Hodl has a passion for sharing what he’s learned along his journey practicing permaculture and homesteading by teaching classes and giving presentations on topics such as the 8 forms of capital, applied permaculture, and principles of Bitcoin mining at home. Rev.Hodl believes that to achieve the permanent culture that permaculture aims to create, a permanent money is required to facilitate it. By integrating permaculture and bitcoin into his lifestyle and homestead, Rev.Hodl is leading by example.
