Dave has been a system administrator for 24 years and has been building RSS aggregation software for about 15 years. He worked with Adam Curry to build a product called the Freedom Controller, which is used as the shownotes/research platform for the No Agenda podcast and a few others.

Recently Dave has been working Adam to build PodcastIndex.org. A new podcast indexing service that empowers podcasters, app creators, developers and listeners to engage in value for value exchanges.  Podcast Index harnesses the power of the Bitcoin Lightning Network to allow for micro payments and split payments, royalties, digital rights payments and more.

In doing so the technology and apps built on it empower and protect free speech.  Leaving the economics to exist between producers in consumers rather than though investors, sponsors, etc.

Dave joins me to discuss the origins of the Podcast Index project, how it combats cancel culture, the role bitcoin and lightning plays in things, empowering developers and ending the plague of “pathological sameness” that has infected podcast technology for the past 15 years.

  1. Hey guys, I’m the developer of CurioCaster, one of the apps that allows streaming of sats to Jack while listening to his show. The NewPodcastApps.com site is a little confusing, because it list all of the PC2.0 apps, not just the ones that allow value 4 value. To make it easier, here’s a list of the apps to try out if you want to try out the streaming sats.

  2. Dave (or Jack) I’m curious to see the paper you referred to in which a person’s natural immunity provides them better resistance to the virus than someone has at 3 months with the vaccine. I believe you mentioned this being from Carnegie Mellon, but I could be mistaken. Thanks for a great show to both of you!

  3. You also have to think if you need a third shot 8 months in to remain immune and natural immunity lasts longer, then……
