New Email Updates Procedure
If you are on my email list you know for years I have used Aweber with automation. Every time I did a post an email went out. Then a few weeks ago something went wacko with Aweber. I would do 10 or more posts and none would go out, then the dam would break all at once and hit people with 10 or more emails all at the same time.
Additionally over the years there have been many requests to consolidate the email into a daily digest format. Instead of 2-5 emails a day, why not one with everything. There is no easy way to automate that with Aweber though.
So I saw the problem as a solution. Now I do about 15 minutes of extra work to compose a daily email manually with Aweber. It is a simple daily digest email. Here are the X number of posts on the blog today and anything else going on.
Most people like it, but some issues have happened as well. One is Aweber defaults to “click tracking links” that makes the links look a bit weird to some of you and seems to have caused a lot of you to file spam complaints. I have no idea why this is the case but I will be turning them off from now on.
Please note that EVERY email I send first of all if you get it, you opted in to the emails. I have never bought a lead or cross promoted my lists. I do the emails as a service to those that want them, not to sell stuff. If you don’t want the emails, don’t complain to Aweber, they don’t actually do anything when you do anyway, I just see the numbers. So not only doesn’t it do any good in that respect, it doesn’t even unsubscribe you. You know what does that, the fricken unsubscribe link.
So from now on, again there will be one email a day, it will have summaries and links to all the posts or anything else I have going on that day. The email will come from me, shown as The Survival Podcast with the email address jack at thesurvivalpodcast dot com. If you find my emails end up in the spam filter for some reason, make sure to whitelist that address.
Also if you had unsubscribed in the past because you didn’t like getting 2-5 emails a day you can now get just one, so consider resubscribing. It is the best way to stay in touch with everything TSP. You can do that here, https://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/subscribe
Anyway I hope this clears up any confusion and I do hope the new format works better for most people.
~ Jack
P.S. – Seems like a good place to say it, I never sell, share etc. my email list with anyone EVER. Period. There is nothing else to say about it.
That is good to read. One mail only, is better in my opinion. Thanks
Sounds good to me. If there was anything I would like to see changed it would be to have a little family friendly language in the podcast. There are a few words that just seem unnecessary. Anyway I know what I am getting so it is not a complaint only a suggestion to make my exxperience more enjoyable.
Well, see section three http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com/about-tspc/disclaimers-policies-2
Sounds good man! Any emails I get are good in my book to let me know the ball is still rolling.
I actually appreciate the candor and occasional adult word references in the show. I’m glad you won’t change it and I love that you have even addressed it as such in the disclaimer. Awesome!
My wife and I chuckle often when you let a word or two fly. It just adds to the sincerity of the show.
