Meet Me In West Virgina – Learn About AI and Homeschool or Just Have a Beer
Come See My Keynote on AI for Education
On August 29th I will be delivering the key note address and sitting on a discussion panel for the West Virginia Homeschool Convention. The event will run just one day from 9AM to 5PM. My talk will be about using AI as a homeschool family and cover our journey as homeschool grandparents from 2020 – 2025 and what we learned from it.
You can register for the conference and get more information about it here. One thing you should know going in is there is ONE type of ticket for everyone. General admission is 50 bucks and that is for an individual or a family. Also if you get your ticket by July 31st it is only 35 dollars. A ticket covers from one person to a family (mom, dad and kids) or grandparents and kids if applicable from what Roy Ramey told me. Again you can get your tickets here and save some money if you act before August 1st.
This conference is worth supporting even if you don’t have kids of your own and you can learn a lot by attending it. My view after being part of homeschooling as an active participant, has evolved well beyond it being a great way to educate children. I also now see it as being one of the greatest tools for liberty we have.
While my grandson did eventually go back to public school to play competitive high school baseball his ability to self direct his learning is something will have forever. He also walked right back in and is currently a strait A student. So much for not being prepared for “the real world”. I can say the same thing for my granddaughter who mostly went back to be like her big brother.
We Are Also Doing a MeetUP
I’d love everyone to come to the conference but the meet up is totally separate. All are welcome! The hotel I am staying at has a great restaurant and bar. The conference ends at 5 and I am paid to be there so I plan to stay till close.
I then will go back, take a shower, change clothes and unwind a bit. So I will set the official start time at 6:30 but the place is open to all so you can all start finding one another whenever you guys want. The TSPC telegram group may be a good way to coordinate with others.
The location is the Charleston Marriott Town Center and the Restaurant/Bar at the location is called Brick Salt Bar+Kitchen. You can get some drinks or a meal or just some wings and such there, so it should work well for all. My plan is to be there from about 6:30 – 9:30 when I will turn in since I have an early flight out in the AM.
In any event it should be a great event and a fun meet up. Also every time I travel I get lots of invites to do things, come see people’s places, etc. I really appreciate it so don’t take this wrong, but I will not be doing any of that. In this case it is a pure time issue.
I fly in late Friday, and I am just going to the hotel from the airport. I have the event from 9-5 the next day and I need to be up early and well prepared so no drinking or hanging out the night before. Then Sunday I am on a plane and headed home early. So the meet up at the hotel is simply the only time I really have to be available.
So thanks to all who usually want to buy me dinner or have me over, etc. but I just do not have the time this time. In any event, I do hope to see many of you at the event and at the meet up. Again the TeleGram Group is likely the best way to connect with other TSPrs. Any questions just ask.
Also the West Virginia Home Educators Association who is running the conference has a very active Facebook Page where you can learn more, follow them and get updates.
