Today I welcome Matt the Libertarian Book Designer to discuss the Amazon KDP Program. I found Matt when my book soft copies got butchered during my push to get my book published this spring. He reached out and said, “I can have it fixed in less than a week”, which he then did.
Wanting to repay his kindness I asked him to come on TPSC and talk about his business and how programs like KDB can benefit this audience. Publishing a book today is easier than ever but trust me it is also harder than most people think. With a pro like Matt helping you though bringing it home to the final finish is easy and affordable.
Authoring a book has many benefits. One of course is the direct monetization component. A book that makes you even a few hundred dollars a month is akin to having a CD in the bank paying interest on 10s of thousands of dollars. Yet it is more than that. For entrepreneurs, professional speakers and high level professionals authoring a book has many benefits. Establishment as an expert in the field, something to sell at speaking events and more.
As an example a man I formally worked for authored this book I have featured on TspAz in the past, Customer Devotion by Mike Case. Mike is currently a highly sought consultant and teaches at a top college. His book has helped him a great deal in those endeavors. So given we have made entrepreneurship and additional income streams a key component of what we teach at TSPC, I think this episode will be a great benefit to the audience. Also, even if you don’t want to write a book, may be you know someone who does. If so please share this episode with them.
Our guest today, Matt is a long-time libertarian, and more specifically, a voluntaryist and an agorist. At the start of his philosophical journey, influenced by the Polish conservative liberals (which would be classical liberals in the United States) and Ayn Rand, holding a position that there is some role for the minimal government in people’s lives. However, over the years he come to see even these minimal intrusions as illegitimate and immoral, thus accepting a more consistent position of a market anarchist.
He had been doing graphic design for different mediums for many years now, and came to conclusion that a physical book is a perfect item for a long-lasting transfer of ideas. A book is a self-contained object for storing information, requiring from its user only ability to read and understand text, and some external source of light. Also, reception of a printed book is different from text on the screen.
