Meangood Floating Shelves – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or that has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the Day is Floating Shelves by Meangood. These are small and were mentioned in my post yesterday about the Acacia Wood Magnetic Knife Holder. As I said in that post, we just did a lot of remodeling in our home this summer and we also painted the kitchen. So everything came off the walls, and that gave us the thought of upgrading some things.
I cook a LOT and I love doing it. So I use a lot of spices and seasonings. I buy in bulk but like to keep the stuff I use a lot in small jars that are easy to grab on the fly. So I would end up with tons of small bottles on the counter, and Dorothy would roll her eyes at me for it. Eventually, we got some small shelves for this purpose and it worked okay. The problem was the way they mounted made them “floating,” but it was a pain in the ass. They just never were really stable. When I tried putting them back up, we closed the back door and bam, broken glass on the floor.
So I set out to find something better, and these are perfect! We standardized on these jars, and with them they hold 9 across and 2 deep, so a set of two holds 36 bottles, all labeled and ready to grab. They also look great and come in several colors and finishes.
You can find the spice jars we use here, we use the 4oz size.
Additionally, the wood finish ones are real wood and could easily be stained darker if you wanted, and any of them could be painted. The big thing I wanted was secure mounting. These are called floating, but they are really just mounted in a way that you don’t see the screws. They go straight through small holes in the bracket, and that makes them mount very securely.
They come with wall anchors and mounting screws. As you can see in the image on the right (click to see full sized), those screws just match the brackets and sort of disappear unless you know to look for them. So no falling shelves, no falling jars, etc.
They are also very useful for many storage options. Some users even use them in bathrooms, turned upside down, for common knickknacks and such, with the rail used for hanging hand towels, etc. They would be great in small pantries as well as for dozens of other uses, but for us, this is a perfect fit for our kitchen. They are also highly reviewed, with over 6,000 reviews and a 4.6 star rating. Some of the negative reviews also show that the customer is the problem, like, “they are too small.” Um, how about reading the measurements, Karen? Or the mail man threw it over the fence. Again, not really a problem with the product.
Anyway, if you need quality small shelves for any need that will mount easily and securely, check out Meangood’s Floating Shelves today.
