Olitans T058 Folding Titanium Scalpel – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Olitans T058 Folding Titanium Scalpel. A week ago I reviewed the Olitans T010 Folding Titanium Scalpel and noted that Olitans had some other cool options. The T058 showed up on some of my sales reports so I checked it out and decided right away to order one.
Everything that is great about the T010 is also true for the T058 it is just a bit larger in format. I mean it uses surgical scalpel blades and that gives you two great things. First you can buy them very inexpensively in bulk, a much lower cost than one of my other favorite swappable blade knives The Outdoor Edge. By tying into the economy of scale of surgical blades of standard format you get really cheap replaceable blades. The next is they surgically sharp! While I tend to hit them on a sharpening steel a few times before discarding, again blades are cheap so when needed just swap.
The beauty of the T058 over the T010 is the larger number 60 sized blades have roughly the length of cutting edge of a small folding knife, vs. the smaller number 25 blade of the T010. The tool itself is a bit larger as well, about 1/3rd over all so it functions more like a pocket knife.
Personally I have added the smaller tool to my key chain as it is perfect for that application and I have a super sharp blade anywhere I go, I mean who leaves the house without their keys? Now the T058 has another feature that makes it great for EDC and that is a pocket clip. Couple that with easy one hand opening and you just have a great tool that you an carry in any pockets, shorts, jeans, dress slacks, it won’t matter. Easy to get, weighs only about 1.6 oz, you will forget it is even there unless you need it. Due to that when you need it, you will have it.

Ordered one of each size, they are well packaged and very well made. They will be going on the list of items to give out as Christmas gifts to family an coworkers. while they are “most” likely not suitable for heavy cutting chores, they are super sharp having a scalpel blade, that comes in a sterile package in case your wondering.
They excel at precise cutting. In my case I used it to cut multi layers of pallet wrap and it sliced thru like it was warm butter. the smaller T010 looks like it would make a good Altoid tin kit knife or as jack has mentioned keychain knife so it is always with you
