Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is The AI-Driven Leader by Geoff Woods.

I was so impressed by this book I first reviewed it when I was only about 25% through the book. By that point I had already gotten more than my money’s worth, and I was happy to recommend it without hesitation. The value hit me that fast. Geoff lays out a simple formula called CRIT (Context, Role, Interview, Task), originally designed for business leaders making high-level decisions. But here’s the thing, it works for almost anything.  Since finishing the book and going back though it a second time my endorsement has only gotten stronger.

I have used CRIT with GPT to generate restaurant-level recipe ideas by telling it to act like a Michelin Star Chef. I’ve used it to break down service quotes, challenge bad info, and get ridiculously accurate answers that would’ve never come from a typical chatbot prompt. When you use this formula, you don’t just ask questions, you run the play. And the results are easily 10X better than the average “how do I do ______” style prompts.  I used these techniques to build a personal writing assistant and source finder that actually finds on real and verifiable sources.

The book was targeted at large company leadership, CEOs, execs, directors and managers. But don’t let that stop you. If you’re a small business owner, freelancer, or even someone holding down a job you need this book.  This is the playbook for how companies are using tech like this to accelerate decision making and reduce overhead. Knowing how they’re thinking lets you get ahead of the curve. Or at least prevent you from being crushed by it.

Big businesses are using smart tools to reclaim the speed and agility small businesses used to dominate with. If you’re not bringing your own edge, you’re going to get outmaneuvered. This book shows you how to get that edge, without needing a data science degree or a team of engineers.  And yet it can help you in hundreds of other day to day needs.

I’d especially recommend this to anyone who’s curious about these tools but hasn’t quite figured out how to actually use them yet. CRIT is the perfect on-ramp. It gives structure to your thinking and shows you how to treat this stuff like a thought partner, not just a toy. I talk a lot about empowering individuals. This is one of the tools that can actually do that.
