More on the why of two options later.  Here’s the deal. If you do any kind of homesteading, DIY, or just basic repair work, you need a vice. Full stop. It’s one of those tools that, until you actually have one, you don’t realize just how often you could’ve used it. And when you do really need one, nothing else really gets the job done.

This one from Vevor is a beast. Solid ductile iron construction gives it strength and durability you can count on. The 360-degree swivel base lets you work at any angle, and the reversible sliding jaw expands your clamping capacity to over 9 inches.

That’s rare in a vise at this price point. You’ve also got integrated pipe jaws underneath, which makes it easy to grip round stock like conduit or pipe—something a lot of cheaper vises just can’t handle well. It even comes with magnetic rubber jaw pads to protect more delicate pieces.

Most vises with this kind of versatility, capacity, and size are in the 150 to 250 dollar range. This one is usually much less, and if you catch it on sale, it’s almost laughably cheap for what you’re getting.

Let’s just say it’s not like trying to get your shine box back.
