Lily’s Salted Carmel Stevia Sweetened Chocolate Bars – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Lily’s Salted Carmel Stevia Sweetened Chocolate Bars. Lily’s makes a variety of low carb, sugar free chocolate options, we use their chips in a lot of things too. As to their bars, most of them are basically what I consider, okay, the salted caramel, well, those are freaking awesome.
Up front there is only one real downside on these and that is if you have never tried you it kind of sucks that they only cost effective option is a 12 pack for 39.99 which is $3.33 a bar. They are totally worth it but 12 bars is a lot if you don’t like them. I will say this though, if you like chocolate with salty caramel flavor I have a hard time expecting you won’t like them.
Keto has done amazing things for my weight and health. I am well over 40 pounds lighter since going on keto back in August of last year. You know what though, sometimes you just fricken want something like candy. At times I just have some, but you can’t do it all the time, if you want to stay keto you can’t do it often. When I found these I was like holy crap, why didn’t anyone tell me about these.
One bar has only 8 total net carbs (minus fiber and erythritol) which is 4 carbs a serving. So when Dorothy and I just fricken want something on any given evening if we choose this it is only 2-4 carbs for each of us, depending on how much we eat.
Like I said some of the other bars like the plain chocolate and the almond for example, are just okay. I mean I will eat them but I don’t get excited. These ones though, I honestly can’t tell they are “low carb” the blend of good dark chocolate, salt and caramel flavor just nail it on every level.
I have also come up with a great snack you can do with these. Each bar has 30 little squares you can break it into on a score line. So what you do is take one and break it up, then take a mini muffin pan like this one, or anything similar. Into each hole drop say one macadamia nut, one pecan half, a pinch of pine nuts and a pinch of roasted pumpkin seed. Put the chocolate square on the top and pop in the oven just long enough to melt the chocolate. Take out put it in the fridge to cool and pop them out.
I was going to do this with the chips but once I tried these it was over on that idea. The flavors here are just better. The math would work out to the chocolate contributing just .13 (that is POINT ONE THREE) carbs per piece plus what ever nut/seed combo you come up with does. While I have not tried it yet a roasted coffee bean would not be bad in there either! I will try that all and report back soon.
Until then if you are keto/low carb and you miss chocolate of all the things I have tried, these in my view are your best bet. If you are not sure about ordering a 12 pack check at local stores, etc. They sell at our market for about 4.50 each, which is more expensive but a good way to try one before buying a box.
Again though if you like dark chocolate, caramel and salt, I just don’t see you not liking them. One thing though, they are not caramel filled, rather they are solid chocolate with a salty and caramel flavor to them. So consider giving Lily’s Salted Carmel Stevia Sweetened Chocolate Bars, you will feel like you are cheating but your blood sugar will say otherwise.
