Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the OLIGHT Arkfeld Ultra EDC Flashlight.  I absolutely love this thing and at a price over 100 bucks that says something.  I am not known to be cheap but I am very focused on a price to value ratio.  I recommend a lot of good lights at 30-60 bucks and they are great for what they are, this Olight though is just at another level.

I found this light during my recent fishing trip with a couple friends.  One is my buddy David often mentioned on air and he had this light.  I found the form factor a bit odd at first.  This is certainly the first flashlight I have owned that is in the shape of a rectangle.  You know what though, it carries beautifully in a pocket due to the flat sides.  It carries more like a folding knife than a typical flashlight.

Okay great you say but it is a flashlight so how bright is it?  The answer is very bright.  To be exact 1400 Lumens bright.  The light itself has three levels of brightness to allow for less intense light or to save on battery life.  That’s the next great thing about this light, no more buying batteries.  The Arkfeld Ultra is recharagable and one charge gives you a ton of use before needing a recharge.  As to the charger I love that it is a magnetic charger.  This means no connections to wear out and no holes in the light for water or debris to get into.  If you need to replace a charger or want more than one they are cheap and a fairly standard item available from OLIGHT and from third party providers.

Next up is the green laser pointer.  This is fantastic as a tool for well pointing to things when interacting with others.  Classically this is useful during presentations in board rooms or at seminars but there are many other uses.  These are great on construction projects in explaining to contractors what you actually want done.  I have even used laser pointers to point out stars and constellations for my grand kids.  While you clearly can’t put a dot on a star light years away the laser itself shows up in the atmosphere and helps others see what you are talking about.  I have also used them to be clear about limbs I want removed from trees and where I want them cut along with many other uses.

The final mode on these lights is the 900 mW UV light.  That UV light shows things you just can’t see in normal light.  We have all seen TV shows and movies where detectives find a variety of “bodily fluids” with UV light.  One of which is of course blood.  For you hunters UV literally makes blood glow in the dark.  It also makes many pests including scorpions glow in the dark.  Many funguses glow in UV too which makes for some really fun walks in your back yard at night.

As to the case and form factor again while not very common the flat sided form is great.  It feels very good in the hand and carries so beautiful in a pocket with the pocket clip.  Next that clip has one of my favorite features a double clip where it both pocket carries and clips onto a standard cap brim to double as a headlight.

This is so convenient no light maker should not include it at this point in time.  The build quality is super high quality and the fit in finish is in a word perfect.  The case material itself is OAL which is OLIGHTs proprietary Aluminum Alloy which is far tougher than standard aircraft grade aluminum.
