P.S. – With lots of family cooking coming with the holiday season you absolutely want a great instant read but you may also want to consider a remote probe thermometer like the Meater Block which is the gold standard though a bit expensive.  You may also want to consider a much lower cost but solid probe thermometer like these ones from Vevor. You can get them in a 1 or 2 probe kit.  I will have a full review on them next week but I own the two probe kit and let me just say they work just fine.  And at only 34 bucks for a single probe for that turkey or roast in the oven, they are hard to beat.  Better yet the two probe version is only 45 bucks.
