Inflation & Interest: The Heat-Humidity Parallel – Epi-3369
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:29:09 — 25.5MB)
In the realm of weather, we often hear the age-old adage, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” This saying, while rooted in some truth, can sometimes feel oversimplified. Indeed, a sweltering 90 degrees with high humidity might feel more oppressive than 95 degrees with low humidity. However, the reality is that both heat and humidity, individually or combined, can be perilous. They combine to create conditions that can lead to severe health risks, such as heat strokes.
Drawing a parallel to our economic landscape, the dynamics of inflation and interest rates mirror the heat and humidity analogy. Individually, they pose significant challenges, but when they converge, the results can be catastrophic. The middle class, once considered the backbone of our society, is now grappling with the combined onslaught of rising inflation and soaring interest rates. Even the upper middle class isn’t immune, finding themselves barely managing to stay afloat.
Several years ago, I foresaw this economic shift and termed it “downward class migration all the way back on Jan 25th, 2012″ This concept encapsulates the idea that even if individuals retain their jobs and witness modest growth in their income and credit scores, their position within the societal class structure would inevitably decline. It’s not just about numbers on a paycheck; it’s about the purchasing power, quality of life, and the ever-widening gap between the classes.
Today, we find ourselves entrenched in this very reality. In this episode, we delve deep into understanding the forces driving this change and explore potential strategies and solutions for the average individual to navigate and possibly counteract this downward spiral.

- The wealthy (net worth over 1 million) make up about 5%
- The upper middle class make up about 40%
- The lower middle class make up about 42%
- The poor make up about 12%
- What has really been going on
- Wages have failed to keep pace with inflation
- Interest rates have been artificially low, setting up a bad end game
- Our dependence on off shore manufacture and materials has grown constantly
- We have created a society of educated idiots with low skill and low drive
- Administrators have out numbered doers and the gap grows – artificial price inflation
- Regulatory capture has resulted in government protected monopolies in all primary sectors
- Supply squeeze, money printing and economic ignorance have led to inflation + artificial S/D curve
- We are currently experiences disinflation and it held up as a victory, “it’s a trap” (Bidenomics)
- Real estate is experiencing another huge wealth transfer to the wealthy and elite
- What I got wrong, pretty much only that it was far more by design than incompetence
- What can you do about it
- Build in the parallel economies we talk about all the time
- Develop hard skills
- Make purchases that are investments
- Make your property and/or lifestyle productive
- Buy smart, work systems hard
- HODL Bitcoin even if it hurts to admit that “Jack is right about it”
- Over all drive down the cost side of your life while driving up the LQ at the same time

I was there last year and the food was FABULOUS! Never had so much great food anywhere. I do not take for granted, as I realize how much effort went into it.
Awesome job, I loved the way you taught a dishwasher about self employment, too.
I’m middle class but I hardly ever travel outside of where my camp is in Maine because I feel like the economic outlook is not good and I don’t think I should spend the money
The agenda 2030 endgame of economic destruction always seemed like the goal that they had
