Mark Brown is an Ironman Triathlete, pilot, World Cup Mountain Bike Coach, maple syrup producer, and, most importantly, Principal and Founder of Headwaters Academy in rural, Ontario, Canada. After surviving public school education Mark decided to become a teacher to change the system from the inside.
He was, however, first hired by a private school in Toronto and has spent his career in private school education since that time. Prior to opening Headwaters Academy Mark was the Director of Innovation at Somersfield Academy in Bermuda.
Mark joins us today to discuss the work he is doing with Headwaters Academy. Headwaters Academy engages students with an exceptional outdoor, environmental and entrepreneurial education using authentic project-based curriculum that focuses on learning to adapt and thrive within their local and global world.
Headwaters Academy is located on 160 acres of forest, streams, ponds, and fields at the tip of the Georgian Triangle. This unparalleled natural site provides the perfect setting for our experiential and entrepreneurial school program.
