Today two of my favorite people, John Willis and Nicole Sauce join me for our First Tuesday Coffee Chat. Today we talk about some current events and news stories but mostly dig into the recent ice storms and what prepping should be done for such events.
We talked about the things you need to get though winter storms including the 4 simple preps that would save 90% of people, 90% of the problems. I learned about an 1800s cook book that I bought right in the middle of the episode. We even talked a bit about the recent shooting in MN and more.

Hey Jack! You guys discussed the amazing Wavian jerry cans on today’s episode, and I wanted to bring these Midwest jerry cans to your attention: https://www.harborfreight.com/5-gallon-jerry-gas-can-56418.html
These cans from Harbor freight (or Menards) appear to be identical to the Wavians in all ways except the nozzle, which as John mentioned can be easily resolved. The Midwest cans are made by Valpro in Latvia, the same manufacturer that makes Wavians. They weigh the same as the Wavians plus/minus a couple ounces which can be accounted for by the different nozzle. They feature the same recessed weld seam, and full welds for the handle instead of spot welds like the cheap knock-offs. The interior has what appears to be the same red coating. But they are half the price of regular Wavians. I’ve been using them for a couple years and they are great so far!
As for the nozzle, just get this for ANY gas cans that use the shitty new nozzles: https://ai13.us/collections/best-sellers/products/coarse-thread-nozzle
That one is good for the Midwest and similar cans with a coarse thread cap, but they have a variety of other vented nozzles as well. With that nozzle my Midwest Jerry cans empty in about 90 seconds, comparable to Wavians.
Thanks man.
Love the tire chain piece; brought back memories. Been listening since 2010 and am better for it. We never worry about food, water, power, losing a job and i just drilled another hole in my favorite belt.
