Mushroom growth:

Your comments about the mushroom stems sent me down a rabbit hole, and I found this post on a site selling CO2 meters https://www.co2meter.com/blogs/news/co2-mushroom-farming. The CO2 ranges and effects are pretty interesting. Ambient outdoor air is ~400ppm, indoor air is ~400-1000ppm. The site mentions ~1200-1500ppm is typical at the soil surface being a good range for pinning. Shrooms get leggy when fruiting if CO2 is high.

It makes sense that you’d get higher CO2 levels in your Boom Room and leggy shrooms considering… The mushrooms are producing CO2, it’s heavier than air, and your fan intake is on the floor.

The “experts” don’t like leggy shrooms and I’m guessing that’s because they are more interested in the bodies than stems. You might be able to optimize stem growth with even higher CO2 levels. Maybe create a CO2 catchment “bucket” in your Boom Room by wrapping/enclosing the bottom-most section and putting a spawn block on the lowest shelf. Or just use a big tub. The spawn block would be “submerged” in CO2. Sounds like a cool experiment and you need a CO2 meter. 🙂
