Today it’s time for the expert council show. To ask a question for a show like this, just send an email to me at jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com with “TSPC Expert” in the subject line.
Today on The Survival Podcast, the expert council answers questions on bed bugs, power tools, knives, ATVs, UTVs, mini trucks, homeschool, fall gardening and more.
In the body of your email first tell me the council member your question is for. Second ask your question concisely in one to two sentences maximum. Third any and all details after that. This is the formula to give you the best chance of getting on the air.
I do what I can to get as many of your questions as possible on the air but can’t always get to all of them. Our council is made of a wide variety of experts in everything from the tactical to the practical and everything in between.

Hi Blake, Good to hear from a pest control pro. Thanks for your input. You may be surprised to see this statement from the EPA:
“Pyrethrins and Pyrethroids: Pyrethrins and pyrethroids are the most common compounds used to control bed bugs and other indoor pests. Pyrethrins are botanical insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethroids are synthetic chemical insecticides that act like pyrethrins. Both compounds are lethal to bed bugs and can flush bed bugs out of their hiding places and kill them. However, where resistant bed bug strains exist, these treatments may cause them to move to a new hiding place or temporarily flush them out of existing locations.”
Note that there is no mention of not using these products on mattresses. You might contact them, as a pest control pro, to let them know to add info about mattresses. Here’s the entire page link:

Ill mention this on air but it seems to be a scam to me, the pictures I have seen are cardamon seeds, a spice that won’t even grown in much of the US.
this tool site is run by the company that makes Rigid and Ryobi. From what i understand Home Depot is the sole retailer for these items, However Direct Tool marks new items as factory blemished , they are new in the box. They do sell refurbished items also. Another thing to mention about battery tools is the adapters that can be found on Ebay and Amazon. I own Dewalt tools mainly but have a Ryobi adapter that lets me use my Dewalt batteries on Ryobi tools. They make several types to cross link your tools.
Im a huge HILTI fan, you cant beat them for concrete work, I also love their normal construction lines as well. They have the best warranty in the industry, and the best quality in the industry. Hard to find though.
Check out the diablo pruning blades for the recip saw. I cut 4-6” limbs with ease, not as easy as a chainsaw once the limbs are on the ground but still has the battery powered convenience. Already having an Milwaukee M18 recip saw and a gas chainsaw these blades have eliminated the desire for the battery chainsaw, and I have the added utility of the recip saw in other areas.
