Podcast: Play in new window | Download (16.8MB)
Our guest Daniel Allen says that for $38 per square foot you can build a DIY off grid home finished with appliances. That it’s possible to throw a few simple tools and a pallet of cement in your truck and go build the shell of a cabin, in a month at any location you can get water to. That this is all possible with AirCrete.
AirCrete is a home made cellular cement product with structural & insulating properties. When you make AirCrete cement is inflated 6 times its volume with air bubbles. When building a dome it is rot proof, fire proof, pest proof, tornado proof, and sound resistant. Walls can be cast into shape, stained to any color, and made to look like almost anything you can imagine.
Daniel joins us to have an open discussion as one leg of using this product in building a well designed lifestyle. Using this method Daniel says even a person on minimum wage can have land, car, & home in 1-2 years if they are simply willing to camp and tough it out to get it done.

This was a great episode! Very informative
very interesting y’all are giving more ideas that I have to learn more about.
Thank you Jack and Dorothy for making this happen.
I would be interested in using this to build a dog kennel/storm shelter at my place.
would this be a practical application? It would be on an existing cement slab.
Oh shit! It’s not bulletproof.
Apples need Boron! As a side note Borax is used to check fungus growth. In fact it is the number one product to use for wet towels that have sat too long after a pool party, whoo! Musty!
Is there a resource for the apple growing method mentioned on the podcast?
I’d look at adding Helix concrete reinforcement to the aircrete.
What was the nursery mentioned in the episode?
