Episode-1762- Expert Council Q&A for 4-8-16 — 11 Comments

  1. Thanks for the show, Jack. I thought for sure you were going to play “We’re Not Going to Take It” by Twisted Sister for the ending song today! Would have been totally appropriate after the government school rant.

  2. Right on again with the school as usual. I think at times we must be related. You literally said verbatim what I have told my family and friends about thinking for yourself, and questioning what others tell you. One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing “just cuz”, or “that’s what everyone else does/says”. Furthermore, I constantly call our current state the “pussification of America”, and even threatened to write a book entitled “what happened to all the men”.
I wrote a while ago about my boy getting stressed out over these ridiculous national tests they push down their throats, regardless of how well he excels at THEIR grading system. Pathetically, it continues at his school despite the fact that I am consistently “salt in the wound,” so to speak. Administrators literally sigh when they see me walk in the door. I have been there for everything from group punishment, a teacher writing YOUR doing a great job on my daughters SPELLING TEST, threatening suspension for my children bringing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (1, yes 1 child in the SCHOOL was allergic), to having a policy stating they will “get EXPELLED for fighting EVEN if they are defending themselves”. I lost my shit on that one…..
Most recently I have been told the administrators have completely segregated the grades, as well as the gender’s at recess. The different grades (K-6) CANNOT intermingle, AND they have certain “sections” they can occupy during their 15 minutes of fun time (sarcasm intended). Sadly, this is in Montana for Christ’s sake. I am looking for a tutor to home school as we speak. Talk about a comparison to prison…. here it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  3. Control freaks should never become principals but it sadly happens. He is not the only one.
As not everyone can home school their kids, nor money right now for private school (but something to work toward) another good conversation is how to make the best of public schooling until you are able to do otherwise.
Been thinking what I would like to teach my grandkids, maybe a week long summer camp of outdoor learning activities or even half day a week class.

  4. Re Blinded by the Light – it was actually recorded by The Boss on the Greetings from Asbury Park album, in 1972 …

Springsteen’s version is MUCH better, but I did enjoy hearing the Manfred Mann version again so I could complain again about how they butchered it, just like I did back then. 🙂
