Two Cool Workshops – Compost and Cows
So I have teased these both but here is the official announcement. I am running a half day workshop on bioreactor compost and biochar in January. Then in March I am attending, co-instructing and supporting a full 3 day beef butchering class along with Chef Ken at Crunchy Mamma Farm in Alvord Texas about an hour north of my place. Here are the details.
- Compost and Char Half Day Class (about 6 hours) – Limit 20 Attendees – Cost 50 Dollars – Includes Lunch – Date (may get changed due to weather) Saturday, January, 25th. Time 10:30 – 4:30. We will be building a couple bioreactors, going over the new models of reactor I have developed in the past year including the aging reactor and metal air column reactor. Doing a small biochar burn, lots of Q&A and having a good time hanging out with fellow TSPC community members. Lunch will be a flight of my home made sausages, some smoked pork shoulder and few surprises. If you are a couple just enter quantity 2 when signing up. Click Here to Sign Up for this Class
` - Beef Processing Class at Crunch Mamma Farms Limit 18 Attendees – Dates March 21-23 – Full details are here. This is a three day sleep over or get a room class with a ton going for it. In short though we will process 2 cows, 8 students to a cow. Some of the meat will be used for meals during the event but most will go to you guys. So that is 1/8th of a cow (about 50 lbs of meat per student) to take home, plus learning a ton of skills along with a great experience. The cost of this event is 975 bucks but the education is priceless not to mention leaving with a cooler of grass fed beef. Oh and sign up at least 30 days early and they will give you a discount of 100 dollars off the course. JUST MAKE SURE IF YOU WANT TO BE WITH KEN AND I YOU SIGN UP FOR THE ONE FROM MARCH 21-23, I promise you we won’t be at the others. You can sign up a and learn more here.

P.S. – Note that the compost class is subject to a change of date. The reason is simple, weather. It could be beautiful, chilly but manageable, freezing cold with ice, raining, etc. we just don’t know. Hence this class is best for local to semi local folks who plan to drive in. Also my cost basis on this one is low unlike major annual events so if you can’t come due to a date change I will refund your money.
I am interested in signing up for compost and char workshop. Where will it be held?
