Grannick’s Bitter Apple for Dogs – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Grannick’s Bitter Apple for Dogs and it is something we are using right now. Charlie Daniels Spirko, our resident Pit Bull, Pointer Mix has gotten some sores on his back feet. Like all dogs he insists on chewing and licking them, which intern makes him lick more, chew more and makes the sores worse.
Charlie is free of hot spots, this is the fist issue like this he has had, likely he got skinned up or got in touch with some sort of plant that gave him a reaction. So I washed them and began applying Dr. Christopher’s Salve to his feet, it worked great then got bad again. Why?
Apparently Charlie likes the taste of Comfrey Salve. One can only imagine the mind of a dog! The solution is quite simple though, coat the area with salve then spray, Grannick’s Bitter Apple on it, chewing and licking stops.
This stuff tastes bad, I only ever knew one dog that would tolerate it and that was our Blackie, but even he only tolerated it as a very young pup. Once the taste buds grew in, it worked like a charm. This stuff belongs in your doggie first aid kit.
You can use it stand along just to stop chewing or with other things be they herbal or over the counter dog meds. It also works for things the dog is chewing like say your house plants. I mean they really, really don’t like it. If you are a dog owner keep this on hand.
Note to Prime Members, because it is a low ticket item while on Prime it is an “add on item” if you want free shipping, so you may want to put it on your list and get it with your next order of other items, a 16 ounce bottle goes a long way, unless of course you have a house full of teething puppies!

P.S. – David S. – If you are reading this yes, I tried the comfrey tincture you gave me, and yea, he liked the taste of that too.
We used a bitter apple spray on the back of our toy poodle. Our Catahoula Pit mix kept mouthing her soggy. The spray decreased the mouthing, but we ultimately had to keep them apart if they were unsupervised.
