Jonathan Livingston Seagull – Item of the Day
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is a book written all the way back in 1970 by Richard Bach, it is called Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Many people today have not heard of this book but between 1970-1972 it sold over a million copies. It is a brief and easy read and a multi faceted story.
Many see it as a purely spiritual story, one examining life today and life after death. It certainly can be. It also can be more seen as I do as a lesson about life and what it takes to make a difference.
What I have learned as I have aged is that the more one does to help others the more he at times will be looked upon harshly by those we would call the “status quo”. To move forward requires change, those in charge have no interest in change for obvious reasons.
I will simply say of this book, that much of the philosophy you hear me talk about has at least some roots in this book. This is a great book for a planned down time or reboot. It would be a great read on vacation, on a camping trip or what have you. Again it is a deep story but light reading, it can be read in say 90 minutes without speed reading, but you will likely read it more than once, in fact you will likely read it many times.
FWIW, yes, Jonathan Livingston Seagull is an actual seagull and the story is about seagulls, how exactly does that work, well you will have to read it to find out.

I read this book in the 8th grade and I agree it is a wonderful book. What I got out of it was nothing is out of reach if you are truly dedicated. A life lesson many could use today.
Best book ever!!!
