Anker 24W Dual USB Car Charger – Item of the Day
SPECIAL NOTICE – This item was just discontinued by Anker but a new better model is available. I will be amending this review for the new model this week as soon as one shows up to test. I don’t put up anything without testing it, even with Anker but I have no qualms ordering one. The new one looks like a hella upgrade, you can find it here https://amzn.to/34P1CTY I should be running this new one by the end of the week as an official item of the day, but let’s just say I do not expect to be disappointed. Anker has yet to disappoint me.
Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.
Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Anker 24W Dual USB Car Charger. To me this dual charger is the best bang for the buck you can get on the market today. First I love Anker, they are just a stand up company with a great warranty and very good support. They stand behind everything they make, all the time. And yea even with a 10 dollar product like this.
This little charger is 24 watts, most of this size and price range are 5-15 watts, simply put this thing charges fast, really fast. Compared to some of the other stuff we have used almost twice as fast for my wife’s iPhone 6 and my iPhone 7.
What I really like is it is so compact, it takes almost no space up and yet provides two ports. The top port gives you the fastest charging at 4.8 amps, the lower port charges at 2.4 amps and that still gives you a quicker charge that most 10 dollar 12vdc chargers.
Our view is we keep an Anker Astro E7 fully charged, if you use it plug it into the lower port to top it off. Given that power bank will charge an iPhone 10 times you are pretty bullet proof at that point.
Steven Harris and I both have the same view on cell phones.
- Rule One – You don’t let your cell phone go dead, in fact you keep it fully charged all the time. When you are home you plug it in, when you are in the car you plug it in, etc.
` - Rule Two – Have multiple ways to charge your phone, especially in your vehicle.
` - Rule Three – You don’t let your cell phone go dead, in fact you keep it fully charged all the time. When you are home you plug it in, when you are in the car you plug it in, etc.
Simple no? I also believe in buying quality and Anker gives you that and at 10 bucks, you should have one of these in every vehicle and one in your BOB, get home bag, travel bag, what ever you call your kit/kits of choice. So check out the Anker 24W Dual USB Car Charger and remember if you want the best back up battery pack on the market for your mobile devices in my opinion you just can’t beat the Anker Astro E7.

Jack,
When the notification for this I was on the go, I bought two, one for me, and one for my girlfriend. When my money situation gets better I’ll buy a few more. Partly because my girlfriends van has 3 places I can plug one in and we do some cell gaming (yes, Pokemon Go) with friends for fun and that uses a LOT of juice, and partly to give them away as presents. They are straight up awesome. Fast charging, compact, quality products. I’ve used a lot of other products that just didn’t cut the mustard, and I was a little skeptical about Anker’s claims at first, because that price. But I read some reviews, and you don’t just happen across a 4.5+ star average with that volume of reviews if you have a shit product. So I gave it a go, and I am so glad that I did. Don’t tell them it’s worth twice what they’re asking for it. 🙂
I just got one of these to replace an older Powergen unit. After using their battery pack and this adapter, I’m sold on Anker. I really like the form factor on this one and that it’s double the power output of the Powergen one.
As my Amazon Basics cords go bad, I’m replacing the all with Anker cables as well.
Is Rule One – You don’t let your cell phone go dead, in fact you keep it fully charged all the time. When you are home you plug it in, when you are in the car you plug it in, etc. based on preparedness or maximizing the potential battery life? With wet cells (lead/acid) this is absolutely true to maximize battery life but is it true for the current generation of dry cells in mobile phones and tablets? The old guidance was to completely discharge before fully recharging to reduce the chance of memory or decreasing battery life.
The idea of full discharge does not apply to lithium ion batteries.
My experience has been that its best to keep your battery topped up as much as possible but dont let it overcharge for too long to the point where it gets hot.
I once bought an over sized wall plug in for my Galaxy which was advertised as as having a higher than normal output spec for rapid charging, I damaged several batteries with it where by the batteries swole up after overnight charging and pushed the back of the phone before I figured out what was happening.
I would recommend the small car adapter shown above 100%.
Intelligent chargers do not allow this to occur. This is why you will always see Steve and I recommend intelligent chargers. Also can’t speak for other phones but at least the iPhone 6 and above have on board intelligence that will not permit over charging.
I bought one of these a while back. I love it. Definitely recommended to fellow listeners.
The Anker Astro link in the write up directs to a review of the dewalt 20v charger adapter.
Try it now, thanks for the heads up not sure how the hell that happened.
I just purchased one of these. I cannot believe how fast it charges! I have an iPhone 6 and it charged 21% in 25 minutes. This has to be close to what the apple wall charger rate is. Anker products have yet to disappoint. Thanks Jack!
I bought a few of these. 1 is none…
Indeed I bought two today one for each vehicle, but both already have one. LOL
I already have two. One for My car and one for the Wife’s. Two is one and one is…. Every review above is spot on. The fastest and best damn charger out there. Also bought two 10′ Anker charging cables for the house. We’ve had them over a year now and both are still in great shape. Wife bought a 6′ Apple Brand for her car cable and its already missing half an inch of rubber at the plug with wires exposed. ANKER ROCKS!
Indeed, if Anker came to me for a marketing slogan, I would give them this….
“Anker ~ Costs Less ~ Works Better”
They should brand the shit out of that, it will work because it is true.
The ad on amazon says:
Advanced Charging Technology: PowerIQ and VoltageBoost combine to provide the fastest possible charge up to 4.8 amps or 2.4 amps per port. (Does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge).
So i asked myself… “WTF is Qualcomm quick charge?? and should i care??”
Looks like this device will also quick charge other Anker products (portable chargers), just not the Anker Astro E7 that Jack promotes…Oh well.
Hey Jack, just a heads up, this affiliate link no longer works.
