Some in our community are starting to toss around the concept of a new “civil war”.  I understand why but I disagree.  Yet the US may be heading into something more like a  late 80s, early 90s USSR break down.  Notice I didn’t use the more common term, “break up”. Would this be good, bad, terrible, a mix, well as in most complex things I think “it depends”.  And it depends on a lot.  How does it go down, how long does it last, how do different regions respond.  Additionally where do you live and not just what state but … Continue reading →

A Stark Message to all Youtube Content Creators – Get on LBRY

The Survival Podcast Posted on August 18, 2020 by Modern SurvivalAugust 18, 2020

I just watched Stefan Molyneux’s statement on his YouTube ban at LBRY.tv and it is eye opening.  He said something to the effect of 14 years of my life, thousands of videos, millions of comments, have been destroyed. I know some don’t care for Stefan, that isn’t the point, at all.  The issue is YouTube wiping out 12 year of work in one hour flat.  Many of his videos are now on LBRY and yet I figure many are lost forever.  It did not have to be.  LBRY has an import function that can let you copy 100% of your … Continue reading →

Episode-2713- Nicole Sauce on Lessons From the CoVid Pandemic

Nicole joins me today for a discussion on what we have both learned during the 2020 pandemic and the colossal over reaction by government to it.  We beat up on the scientific community, politicians, The Karens and more today. We talk about the shortages that happened, the ones that made sense and the ones that really didn’t.  We talk about how a lot of the “inside information” both of us got was helpful but most of it really wasn’t.  We talk about income stability during times like this, growing your own food, the power of community and more. We also … Continue reading →

Today on The Survival Podcast I answer your questions on freedom, food preservation, business, diet, tools, investing, vehicles, permaculture, garden harvests and more. Make sure if you submit content for a feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process. Please understand I receive several hundred emails a day and can’t get them all on the air. I also do put out a lot of information on Facebook from emails that I can’t fit on the program though so keep … Continue reading →

The One Percent Effect – Sell Your Home Fast – Item of the Day

The Survival Podcast Posted on August 14, 2020 by Modern SurvivalAugust 14, 2020

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend. Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the book “The One Percent Effect – Sell Your Home, Fast, At Asking.  Any Market.” by Dustin Dreifuerst and Jack Spirko.  And yea that is me, this Jack Spirko. I was approached by Dustin a few years ago about this project and we hashed out a way to get it done.  This book is about selling your house and doing so at … Continue reading →

I wanted a proactive and fun show today and shows about useful plants are always subscriber favorites.  Last night on Episode 5 of Unloose the Goose we discussed the food system and it has a lot of this churning in my brain. When I was a kid my Grandfather taught me to tend our garden.  In many ways is was a lot like a small row farm.  Strait rows and a row for each thing.  A row of broccoli, a row of beans, a row of cucumbers, 8 rows of corn, etc. When I moved to Texas I started out … Continue reading →

Huauzontle – The Most Useful Plant You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

The Survival Podcast Posted on August 13, 2020 by Modern SurvivalAugust 13, 2020

Huauzontle is often referred to as lambsquarters and that is a generic name for a family of plants that huauzontle is part of. The scientific name for huauzontle is Chenopodium nuttalliae while the common variety of lambsquarters known to most people in the US is Chenopodium album. Think of them as cousins, rather than sisters. Huauzontle grows lower and more spreading, it puts on a great deal more seed and does so earlier. Native peoples of Mexico where this plant originated used the dried seed as a grain, one reason it is also commonly called “hairy amaranth” the the seed … Continue reading →

Yesterday I had to be in my car for a bit and so I listened to part of one of Nicole Sauce’s recent podcasts on meat chicken raising.  She covered it all from getting new chicks to butchering them.  It made me realize I have not talked about poultry recently and that hey I wanted to. Not wanting to redo the great work Nicole just did I thought, well lets talk about the other side of bird keeping, eggs.  I grew up at what I kind of like to think of as the end of the great era of back … Continue reading →
