Many preppers are now looking at their stock piles and while they don’t necessarily need to go into long term storage they are using some of it and pondering say another 30-60 days of limited availability and restricted movement.  Keith Snow reached out about doing a show on cooking with your preps and I thought it was a great idea.  Keith is a long term friend of TSP and served on the expert council for a number of years.  For those that don’t know him thought, here is his bio. Chef Keith Snow is the author of The Harvest Eating … Continue reading →

Today on The Survival Podcast I answer your questions on corona virus treatments, fun stuff, the stimulus, hydroponics, composting, business, water filters, quail, air rifles and more. Make sure if you submit content for a feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process. Please understand I receive several hundred emails a day and can’t get them all on the air. I also do put out a lot of information on Facebook from emails that I can’t fit on the … Continue reading →

Today it’s time for the expert council show. To ask a question for a show like this, just send an email to me at jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com with “TSPC Expert” in the subject line. Today on The Survival Podcast, the expert council answers questions on N95 masks, medical exams, wind breaks, plant propagation, hiking, diesel trucks, the covid denominator and more. In the body of your email first tell me the council member your question is for. Second ask your question concisely in one to two sentences maximum. Third any and all details after that. This is the formula to … Continue reading →

The Survival Podcast Posted on March 27, 2020 by Modern SurvivalMarch 27, 2020

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.  Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Hydrofarm Seed Starting System and Heat Mat. This one is a bit different as I have not yet owned one but the recommendation is from James White who as on Wednesday’s show.  Every piece of advice this man has given me has been spot on and given these things are shipping almost 2 weeks out as of right now, I didn’t … Continue reading →

Episode-2626- Simple, Fast and Easy Kratky Hydroponics for Growing Food

I consider it quite fortunate that back in late November of 2019 a listener asked me about something called, “Kratky Hydroponics” named for Dr. Kratky who is a professor at the University of Hawaii.  Up until that point I had never really seriously considered hydroponics as I vastly preferred aquaponics because it is a more natural system. When I grasped the true simplicity of Kratky though it would not let go of me.  I first used it to create a very inexpensive and productive seed starting system and even that system grew some things so fast it was producing food … Continue reading →

Growing up on a small Hawaiian island, Eddy Garcia has over 30 years of experience living off-grid. His deep connection to Nature has taught him fundamental truths that are woven into Living Earth Systems. Observation, Consistency, Stewardship. Eddy has been self-reliant from a very young age. He lived off-grid on Maui & Molokai as a kid with a traditional Hawaiian native family and had to teach himself how to hunt, produce energy, build shelters… In the meantime, he developed a deep understanding for nature that has enabled him to grow food for himself and his community, become entirely self-sufficient, and … Continue reading →

Episode-2624- Now is the Time to Grow Your Own Food

I am going to say a bit more on the concept of treating CoVid with hydroxychloroquine today and play a patient testimonial as well.  Doing this because I feel we 100% need to educate people about this.  Doctors are still resistant and supplies are still limited but for many this is the answer to treatment. Very quickly though we will turn to growing your own food.  Today I just going to give you some options to get planting fast, like container gardens, grow bags, etc..  What the main focus is going to be though is long duration, fast production foods.  … Continue reading →

Gorilla Super Glue with Brush & Nozzle Applicator – Item of the Day

The Survival Podcast Posted on March 24, 2020 by Modern SurvivalMarch 24, 2020

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend. Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Gorilla Super Glue with Brush & Nozzle Applicator.  I consider “super glue” to be similar to duct tape in a way, as in if you don’t have super glue are you even a prepper.  It is just something to useful not to have.  Yet I just learned about this version from my wonderful wife Recently someone not accusing anyone it just was … Continue reading →

I want to take a three pronged approach to this today.  First as I predicted treatment of CoVid with hydroxyhloroquine is already beginning in earnest.  I am no doctor but I am going to talk about this form a set of known facts today, then expand into my opinion based on those facts. I am in fact going to tell you why I think some over the counter supplements MIGHT be very useful for fighting CoVid especially if taken very early on.  I am going to talk about buying time in the window right now as well until the government … Continue reading →

Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack Towels – Item of the Day

The Survival Podcast Posted on March 23, 2020 by Modern SurvivalMarch 23, 2020

PS – Bringing this around today because these or anything like them, regardless of source are a great resource right now to avoid the use of paper towels which are in short supply.  Other than things that stain or fats and oils these are great for cleaning, draining, etc.  I mean it even will work for the others too but how clean they will get depends on the fats or staining liquids in question.  We recently sweated zucchini for instance and usually use paper towels for that instead we used this, toss into the wash and done.  So may be … Continue reading →
