His home landscape and the WSD studio site in Vermont’s Mad River Valley serve as a proving ground for the regenerative land developments featured in the projects of Whole Systems Design. Ben has studied architecture and landscape architecture at the graduate level and holds a master’s degree in land-use planning and design. He has conducted … Continue reading →

Today we are going to focus on soil but strictly from a garden stand point.  There is so much to soil building on broad scale but where you can really do amazing things fast is at the garden scale.  It is in the garden that we can manage by the 4×8 foot bed or even by the square foot. We are going to discuss building soil from a starting point of zero and how that relates to building it in the ground, a raised bed or even large containers.  We are going to discuss mulching, common myths and trouble shooting … Continue reading →

Welcome Steve Wise and Derek Bonpietro to the Expert Council

The Survival Podcast Posted on February 19, 2019 by Modern SurvivalFebruary 19, 2019

Recently we had to make a few change to the Expert Council.  Due to time restraints and life events both Charles the Humble Mechanic and Dan Ohmann had to step away from the TSP Expert Council.  Charles and Dan remain good friends to the show and the community.  On behalf of all 200,000 members of the TSP Nation I would like to thank them for the work they did in helping all of us. That said having a mechaninc and a LEO on the council I see as vital to serving this community and hence I would like to welcome … Continue reading →

Today on The Survival Podcast I take your questions on water filters, student loans, pastured poultry, security, ground cover, side hustles, marketing, taxes, mead and more. Make sure if you submit content for a feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process. Please understand I receive several hundred emails a day and can’t get them all on the air. I also do put out a lot of information on Facebook from emails that I can’t fit on the program … Continue reading →

Fishnure Joins the MSB with a 10% Discount

The Survival Podcast Posted on February 18, 2019 by Modern SurvivalFebruary 18, 2019

I am really trying to make 2019 a year where I don’t just add to the MSB but really increase the variety of what you can save money on.  And man am I excited about this one.  As many of you know I am a huge fan of aquaponics, one reason the growth is so amazing there is the biological activity.  In reality the N-P-K in such a system is really low, so how can it grow so much, so fast? It is all about biological activity.  When you have a highly bioactive system plants can get what they need … Continue reading →

Today Steven Harris and I answer your questions on Bug Out Trailers. This time we discuss security while bugging out with a trailer or in any situation really. This is the tenth in a multi part series that began with Episode-2117- Steven Harris and Jack Spirko on Bug Out Trailers. As this is clearly going to become a multi episode series I have created the tag BOT Shows so that all of them can be found at one location.
