MSB Lifetime Membership Open Again

The Survival Podcast Posted on November 20, 2013 by Modern SurvivalNovember 23, 2013

I have had quite a few questions about a lifetime membership option for the MSB lately. I did this a few months ago and the response was pretty huge. I do want to keep the program limited but I am opening it up for the next 20 people that want in. The program is open to existing and new members alike. New members that paid in the last 6 months any dues that you paid during that time are applicable to the 300 dollar cost. I will send you a refund when I convert your account.  You don’t need to … Continue reading →

Last week I did a show called Food Forestry and How it Actually Works.  If you didn’t listen to it you, you might want to do so before listening to this show.   The reason being is that this show is a direct result of questions that I asked the audience to send me at the end of that show.  Hence much of what was covered there I will be assuming you have already heard today. The reality is a food forest is both simple and quite complex at the same time.  The complexity is based on the system that develops, … Continue reading →

Earthworks Update – Students Did You Get Your Course Instruction Packet?

The Survival Podcast Posted on November 19, 2013 by Modern SurvivalNovember 19, 2013

If you have not received an email by now with instructions for the earth works course (assuming you are a registered student) something is amiss with your email. Specifically Yahoo and GMail often discard emails they see as spam and never even put them in your spam folder.  This is just one reason I refuse to use either one. Anyway if you are still waiting on instructions email me at jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com with missing event instructions in the subject line.  Be sure to include a phone number and we will make sure you get what you need to attend. … Continue reading →

Today on The Survival Podcast I take your comments, questions and thoughts on bitcoin, permaculture, food storage, meat preservation, lifestyle design and our economic future. Make sure if you submit content for a feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process. Please understand I receive several hundred emails a day and can’t get them all on the air. I also do put out a lot of information on Facebook from emails that I can’t fit on the program though … Continue reading →

Episode-1248- Preservation of Meats with Ken Strayer

Today I want to discuss curing meats.  To do that we are joined by Ken Strayer a member of the TSP audience.  Ken has been curing meats for a few years and did a great job of answering my questions on the basics of curing meats. He was however, extremely efficient and his knowledge is limited to a few types of cured meats so the interview as only about 28 minutes long.  It was 28 extremely informative minutes but my shows are generally at least 50 minutes to an hour in length. So I am adding a bonus segment on … Continue reading →

He’s written two books, and runs a DIY focused prepper website, based around his training business “The Shepherd School”. Today he joins us first to talk about prepping from a DIY standpoint. From Nov. 21st to Nov. 23rd this month we are running an earthworks workshop, I think we still have two spots by the way for anyone that wants to come.  You can find out about that here. During this workshop we are putting in the main frame earth works for about .75 acres of food forest.  That is just the beginning though.  Main planting will occur in the spring.  At that time about 40 long term productive trees, lots of bushes and shrubs, some climbers and about 280 support trees will be planted. I talk about food forests often and … Continue reading →

Today is Veteran’s Day and so it is time yet again for our special Veteran’s Day edition of The Survival Podcast. I have also removed any time based references so that this version can be timeless. There is no commercial content today as the entire show is dedicated to those that serve our nation. You will notice more music in today’s show, hopefully no lawyers for Trace Atkins, Tim McGraw or Toby Keith will come after me for today’s show though I doubt it will be an issue. Additionally you will hear the song I co wrote with Gregg Yows, … Continue reading →

I Miss America

The Survival Podcast Posted on November 10, 2013 by Kelly GendrouNovember 10, 2013

TSP Gear Shop has brand new I Miss America gear from the 299 Days Book series. A PVC Patch, Hat and Ladies V-neck have just been added to the collection to go along with the hot selling T-shirt and Sticker. These are great conversation starters and the perfect way to spread the word about 299 Days. Note from author Glen Tate: “I miss America” says it all. America was good (not perfect) and is something worth missing. We are missing it because it’s gone. But the final part of “I miss America” is a strongly implied statement that we’re going … Continue reading →
