Jason Burns lives near Liberty, IN. His primary profession is in hospital pharmacy. He began keeping bees in 2010 because he was interested in pollination for his garden and obtaining a honey for his family. Initially he had planned on keeping two hives. Things got interesting when he figured out how easy it was to catch feral bees that were local to his area. Currently he keeps about 30 hives of untreated/unfed bees amongst endless fields of soybeans and corn (mono-crop hell). Jason joins us to discuss sourcing honeybees by Swarm trapping for sustainability and self sufficiency for the backyard … Continue reading →

Kydex for the Mora 2 Classic

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 26, 2013 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 26, 2013

I  had a member of the audience who makes kydex part time whip up some sheaths for the Mora Classic Number 2.  I will be giving four away at the coming workshop in Oct and keeping one for myself.  These are being paired with some Mora’s I have refinished the handles on and put a patina on the blade to prevent rust. I know the Mora is loved for bush crafting and for good reason, it is a 13 dollar knife that you just look at and go, how the hell do they sell that for 13 bucks.  One custom … Continue reading →

Char-Broil – 25% Off Everything in Their Store

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 25, 2013 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 25, 2013

I just did a show on grilling and highly recommended the Char-Broil T-22D and converting the grill top to cast iron.  Well I just got an email that said that Char-Broil is giving 25% off everything on their website on all orders of 55 dollars or more, today only. To get the discount use discount code E13JD25 when you order. I know this might seem like set up or something but I have no relationship to Char-Broil other than I love their inferred grills.  I simply received a few emails from listeners about this who suggested I let everyone know. … Continue reading →

In the movie the Matrix the hero Neo is offered a choice by his mentor Morpheus, “This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.” The issue is, once you take that red pill and wake up into reality, you can never go back.  It is a fundamental change and the real horrors of the world … Continue reading →
