It’s Monday and time for another round of you your feedback, questions and commentary sent to jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com. Make sure if you submit content for a feedback show that you put something like “comment for jack”, “question for jack” or “article for jack” in the subject line to assure proper identification for my screening process. Today we discuss what the droughts might mean, a deer tears up an Obama sign, the Berkey Guy’s September bonus for MSB,  more on QE3 (aka QE Infinity), a potential stock bull market, top bar bee hives, new taxes coming for all in 2013, … Continue reading →

Cooking on the EcoZoom Stove During a Blackout

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 22, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 22, 2012

Most people consider a black out to be a real pain in the butt, not us it is always an opportunity for some fun and to try out gear.  So this morning when I work up and put the dogs out back and noticed the power was off I decided to surprise the wife with crispy bacon and hot coffee. She took the opportunity to sleep in a bit on a Saturday and I fired up the EcoZoom.  When I woke her and told her there was coffee she wasn’t too surprised but the scent of burning coals and wonderful … Continue reading →

Why QE3 Will “Work”

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 21, 2012 by Modern SurvivalOctober 4, 2012

I am only calling it QE3 because that is how it is mostly known to the public.  It would be more accurate to call this thing QEF (quantitative easing forever) or QEI (quantitative easing infinity). I also know the majority of people who will read this post and watch these videos will be fairly educated financially and will likely at first have a problem with my claim that it will “work”, please understand work here DOES NOT MEAN, it will be good or it will fix out problems. Work as I am using it means it will do what it … Continue reading →

We are Back Up – No Show Today but Videos on QE3 Will Be Out Soon

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 21, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 21, 2012

So we had some sort of database FUBAR episode today.  We were not hacked and no the anonymous guys that got to GoDaddy didn’t do it, it was a simple lock up of the database and a failure of the automated system to restart itself.  It took a couple hours to figure it out and about 5 minutes to fix it once we did. With that there will be no TSP episode today but many of you had asked for a video on QE Forever.  Those videos are uploading right now.  The first one uploaded already but for some reason … Continue reading →

Today we are going to just free style things and talk about some recent events, some recent news and some upcoming changes at TSP and for myself as well. One thing I will never do is apologize for who I am, what I stand for or how I present it, unless I am factually wrong or truly make a mistake.  It is a piss poor man that can’t admit to being wrong. However, I will often explain why something is the way it is or why it is presented the way it is for the sake of clarity and for … Continue reading →

Episode-981- Lessons in Sustainable Living Japan’s Edo Period

While I was traveling to and from North Carolina for the recent self reliance expo I wasn’t laying down on the job. I was in fact doing more research for more shows, one such piece was a complete reading of the book, “Just Enough – Lessons in Living Green from Traditional Japan” by Azby Brown. The book was a fascinating look at life in Japan during the Edo Period (1603-1868) which was largely a stable period at the end of what could best be described as Japan’s feudal era along with the end of their isolationist period. The period was … Continue reading →

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 17, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 17, 2012

Just a quick post so no on is left waiting for a show that isn’t coming. We are still in North Carolina and will be flying home today, so TSP will return tomorrow. Had a blast meeting so many TSP folks at the Self Reliance Expo. Next up Mesa Arizona, have to confirm a few things with Ron and Scott on it but it looks like I will be there in October for the last Self Reliance Expo of the year.

TSP MeetUps at Two Hickory North Carolina Brew Pubs

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 12, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 12, 2012

So while we are in Hickory I figured we could check out some local brew pubs and found two great ones.  So we are having an informal meet up at each of them, one on Friday night and the other one on Saturday.  Dorothy and I will be breaking away from the event a bit before the doors close and will be at each location about 6:30ish somewhere in the bar area both nights. Friday night we will be at Amos Howard’s Brew Pub and hope to see some of you guys there. Saturday night we will be at Old … Continue reading →
