Split Pea and Ham Soup from Preps on the Rocket Stove

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 30, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 30, 2012

Shot a bit of video for you guys last night as I whipped up some split pea and ham soup on the Jamaican Coal Pot and the Dutch Oven.   This was the first time I used the coal pot with a dutch oven and it really excels for slow simmer cooking. I did want to do this in the solar oven but as you can see in the video it simply wasn’t possible.  This is a good example of why having multiple cooking options is a great idea.

Remember to be on a show like this one just pick up your phone and call 866-65-THINK. The best way to improve your chances of being on the air is ask your question or make your point up front, then provide details. Also please do your best to call from a quite area with a good connection and speak up so you can be well heard. I can’t put all calls on the air but I do my … Continue reading →

Cooking on the Deck with the EcoZoom Stove – Sausage and Peppers

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 27, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 27, 2012

I am really becoming a fan of the EcoZoom Versa stove.  With a bit of practice you start to get really great temperature control.  For something like browning sausage or other meat I would really prefer this to the electric range any day of the week and of course it will work anytime, anywhere, anyplace.

Episode-985- From Pawn to Personal Sovereignty

The Survival Podcast Posted on September 25, 2012 by Modern SurvivalSeptember 25, 2012

I chose the title today in spite of the wackos at the fringe of the “sovereign citizen movement”, not because of them.  In may ways those people have polluted the concept of personal sovereignty but no other phrase really applies to what I want to discuss with you today. Personal sovereignty basically means “self ownership” and as such is much larger then any political statement.  Someone who truly lives their life based on self ownership must carry far more responsibility then just telling others that they won’t do as commanded.  The individual sovereign much accept that if they fail the … Continue reading →
