Some folks wonder why I spend so much effort on homesteading type topics.  Simply put because modern survivalism is about a better quality of life, not just prepping for total systems failure.  In fact I feel in many ways that systems have already failed or are actively failing. Understand the role of society and government is supposed to be to make sure people have individual rights and the ability to pursue happiness.  While it may be the case that these words are part of our foundational documents I view them as universal natural law. So it is Friday and we have some calls today on some great stuff.  Today we hear about open carry, protesting, precious metals, tornadoes, libertarianism, entrepreneurship, prepping on the road, election cycles and how they effect the stock market, livestock and financial advisers. Remember to be on a show like this one just pick up your phone and call 866-65-THINK.  The best way to improve your chances of being on the air is ask your question or make your point up front, then provide details.  Also call from a quite area with a good connection and speak up so you … Continue reading →

Jack and Marilou Dody live on a homestead on the plains of Colorado, within sight of Pikes Peak. Jack has been designing and building “alternative” housing since the late sixties. His workbook entitled Abundaculture gives the details of his homestead construction, including solar and wind power, a rainwater catch system, indoor garden, passive solar, and a composting toilet. Jack runs workshops to train missionaries, homesteaders and homeschoolers on the knowledge he has gain in his years of actually living the life of a truly off grid homesteader.   His work has prepared many for trips to remote ares of the world … Continue reading →

I first found Lierre Keith on Peak Moment TV being interviewed by Janaia Donaldson.  She is the author of a book highly recommended by Robb Wolf called, “The Vegetarian Myth”.  When I heard her explain many of the roots of why we are told veganism is so good for us I knew I had to bring her on TSP. The Forward of The Vegetarian Myth explains, “We’ve been told that a vegetarian diet can feed the hungry, honor the animals, and save the planet. Lierre Keith believed in that plant-based diet and spent twenty years as a vegan. But in … Continue reading →

The Survival Podcast Posted on March 13, 2012 by Modern SurvivalMarch 13, 2012

Update – I am officially booked and will be on GBTV tomorrow with Glenn, additionally they have found a HAM for the segment. It looks like I may be going back on GBTV tomorrow for an interview with Glenn Beck.  If so we will be driving down to Dallas in the early morning for it.  The producer has asked me if I might also be able to recommend a HAM radio operator to be on the show. This person needs to be able to be available tomorrow between about 2PM and 6PM and able to go in studio in the … Continue reading →

It is time for another show based 100% on emails the audience has sent in to jack at thesurvivalpodcast.com  Remember to submit content for a show like this. Please realize I get hundreds of submissions a week and can only get about a dozen on the weekly feedback show.  That said I do read them all and often put out many of them on facebook and twitter even if I don’t put them on the show. The best way to make sure I read your question or comment is to put “question for jack” or something similar in the subject … Continue reading →

When I stated I wanted to do some more shows on firearms topics I was flooded with emails by new shooters that all basically said some version of this… “Jack can you do a very basics style show that explains what all these calibers and rounds mean.  Sometimes when you are talking about a firearms subject I am fine then you start saying something like the 38 special is 35 caliber and I just don’t get it.  Or that a 40 S&W is equivalent to a 10mm in a carbine.  None of this makes sense, please help.” Often I feel … Continue reading →

My Presentation at the 2012 Liberty Forum on Video

The Survival Podcast Posted on March 7, 2012 by Modern SurvivalMarch 7, 2012

The presentation I gave at the 2012 Liberty Forum can be found in 3 parts below.  It went very well and it is a great introduction to Modern Survival Philosophy and has the added value of being done with a live audience. If you actually go to Vimeo to view these in each part there is an option to download the actual videos rather than just stream them.  Should anyone wish to do so and use them in any way to help spread the message about being prepared please do so.  I consider them to be public domain videos and … Continue reading →
