Akiva Silver has a background in wilderness survival and nature awareness. He holds a deep appreciation for wildlife and trees. Akiva runs Twisted Tree Farm, 20 acres of diverse orchards and a nursery.
The nursery provides Akiva and his family of 5 with their full income. He believes in the trees that he raises so much that he sees them as a path forward for humanity and all of the ecosystems surrounding us. He is now growing around 20,000 trees a year using practices that go well beyond “organic”. His background is in foraging, wilderness survival and primitive skills. He has been observing nature intensively for the last 20 years and cultivating a deep appreciation for life.
Akiva says that, “by understanding how we can partner with the plant world, we can stabilize and build soils, increase wildlife populations, feed ourselves, manage the carbon cycle, and provide ourselves with abundant income.”
Today we discuss Akiva’s new book called Trees of Power. A resource that breaks out 10 unique trees and how we can work with them as allies to build a better world.

I was really happy to hear another Akiva interview show. I want to plant food producing trees but am dealing with a pine and oak wooded property, with a lot of shade. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate shade! But when you want to grow food producing plants, it can present a challenge. I hope to someday visit Akiva’s farm. I live in Jack’s favorite state!!! (NJ)
I really enjoyed the interview & the update. Seeing as the eBook and the paper version are very similarly priced, is there any reason to prefer one over the other? (Sometimes tables and pics don’t work very well in eBook versions).
