The Truth vs. Myths About the “Lead Shot Ban” — 10 Comments

  1. Thank you jack. I’m a hunter myself and in a hunting community. Over that past week there’s been a lot of talk about this and while I tell my friends we already can’t and don’t use lead shot when bird hunting, they think the price of .22 ammo is going to go from roughly 4 cents a bullet to 25 cents. I haven’t been able to comment much because one news source has it hyped up one way and another place has it going the other way. It’s nice to get some straight talk once in a while. Keep it up friend.

  2. Jack,
A good analogy would be depleted uranium ammo used in the gulf wars. Toxic is toxic.

  3. Jack I consider you a very well informed, educated person. You always seen to cut through the propaganda and find the facts. If this was two years ago I would agree with you 100%
A short time ago the federal court ruled that the 2nd amendment stands. I believe the people behind the EPA……… pulling all the strings on this are the same people stroking the EPA to rule on coal ash. Obama campaigned that he would tax and make it impossible for the coal company’s to stay in business. Now with new coal power plants starting up this administration is directing the EPA to make it so costly they can’t operate. The 2nd amendment stands so they can’t get the guns…….. But they will get their way!! It will be to costly to re-tool and substitute steel/copper to replace the lead and will drive companies with much inventory at all out of business and of course that will be the larger with the most invested. I’m not much for conspiracy theory’s but seeing how they work I can’t help but think once more, right in the open they will show us what they want they get….. One way or an other. I mean no disrespect but I really believe this to be true.
Thank you for all your effort to keep things strait.
    Marc

  4. @Marc you REALLY need to read Tim C’s comment right above yours. Not only is everything I stated 100% accurate but the EPA itself has already DENIED the petition. So much for the EPA using this as a back door effort to get our guns.

    Excerpt from that link,

Steve Owens, EPA assistant administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, issued the following statement on the agency’s decision:

“EPA today denied a petition submitted by several outside groups for the agency to implement a ban on the production and distribution of lead hunting ammunition. EPA reached this decision because the agency does not have the legal authority to regulate this type of product under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) – nor is the agency seeking such authority.”

If you think everyone is out to get you, you will find a way to “prove it”.

  5. Thanks, Jack. Too many times I get fed up with both the right & the left as their rants prevent factual discourse to occur. One of my fears is that the sides will completely shut one another out – even though they’re so similar. We’re becoming, in many circles, a society who makes too many judgements based on the (R) or (D) next to a name before the ideas are fully considered. Off track a bit, but thanks for inserting some sanity to the week.

  6. I learned getting all of the facts straightened out first to be a very useful method before getting all upset. I am glad you took the time to share your findings with us. Thanks!

  7. If they were to ban lead for these purposes do you think it would be in such blatant language? More than likely it would be in hidden legislation.
