Episode-626- Prepping from Starting Out to Advanced Tactics

Food Storage is One Major Component of Survival

With the disaster in Japan I am getting a lot of emails from brand new people and long time listeners, the basic question is “what should we do”?  Well this may be hard for you to believe given the non stop media coverage of the burning reactor but the answer is, unless you are in Japan you should probably not do anything.  That said getting out of Japan unless you are part of the relief efforts probably isn’t a bad idea.

You certainly shouldn’t go spend 100 dollars for a bottle of potassium iodine on eBay because you will be able to get all you want for about 15 bucks a bottle in about a month, there is really nothing for you to do, perhaps other than make a contribution to the relief efforts in Japan.

What we all should be doing right now personally is using this current disaster as a gut check of sorts.  Rather than worry about some fictitious cloud of death, that just isn’t going to happen you should be asking the following.  What would it have meant to me had this disaster occurred in California or New York?  What if it had just been a tsunami, just a nuclear accident or just an earth quake but had happened much closer to me, would I have been prepared enough to shelter in place or get out of dodge?

With that in mind I think it is time we take a show to go back and just talk about prepping in general, the tenets of preparedness and self evaluation of how we would handle a disaster that wasn’t thousands of miles away.

Join me today as we discuss…

  • Why now is not the time to panic but to plan
  • Why 30 days is the absolute minimum amount of food you should have on hand
  • Why having a means of water purification is more important than water storage
  • Why you need both lethal and non lethal methods of self defense
  • Getting started with personal energy independence
  • Understanding how most people are enslaved by the systems
  • Realizing the link between liberty and prepping

Episode-625- Keeping Your Wits When Others are Losing Their’s

Today we will talk at least a little bit about the current disasters in Japan but only as a frame of reference.  For instance right now people are rushing to buy Geiger counters and potassium iodide supplements and many are paying a premium to get them NOW before they can’t get one at all.

Such actions are the actions of scared and more importantly clueless people, not an empowered population who understands the current threat to our nation, or lack thereof.

The reality is most people in the modern world have lost touch with an ancient survival component that is built into our mental and physical wiring.  When the component emerges and is not fully understood it leads to a cycle of poor decisions that make bad situations worse.

Join me today as we discuss…

  • The initial extreme, normalcy bias
  • The emergence of the predator/prey instinct we have tried to deny
  • The second extreme, overcompensation
  • The third extreme, hyper-competitiveness
  • The fourth extreme, paranoia
  • The fifth extreme, depression
  • The sixth extreme, regret
  • Breaking or staying out of the cycle
  • Past disasters and possible disasters and what they teach us
  • Why you always must ask questions before you act

Episode-414- Jack on the Baldy and the Blonde Show

Well even though I am on the road today I do have a show for you today.  Today I am playing a rebroadcast of the Baldy and the Blonde Show from WGSO 990AM in New Orleans, LA.

They gave me a great interview discussing the first five tenents of the Modern Survival Philosophy and Modern Survivalism as a method of early retirement.

Please Note – There may not be a show every day this week because I will be traveling working on the next edition of the martial arts DVD series of Ballistic Striking – With Val Riazanov

I really recommend checking out Baldy and the Blonde’s website and you may even want to listen to the entire show from the date of my interview.  They covered a new Senate bill

Episode-279- The Foundational Principle of Modern Survivalism

Today we discuss principle one of modern survival philosophy,

“Everything you do to prepare for disaster should improve your position in life even if nothing ever goes wrong.”

Today I give you the background on where that principle came from, how I was inspired by many already living by it but just not putting it that way yet.  I tell you the story of my slumber during my years of success and what led me to forget what I knew to be true.  How over time many events led me to reconnect with what I was taught about frugality, common sense, preparing and nature from my childhood.

More importantly I will tell you what I discovered about why people don’t prep, why they ignore stark reality and how to use the first principle to reach people who are just looking for something that makes prepping “okay” in their minds.
