Episode-610- Staying Positive in a World Full of Disaster

Eeyore is the Antithesis of Modern Survival Thinking!

I have never understood wholly negative people, you know the folks that personify the Winni the Poo character Eeyore.   To these people the world is one of unending hardship and everyone who succeeds either knows the right person or screwed someone over to reach a place of prominence.

What I understand even less is a survivalist (modern or other wise) that is a fricken Eeyore!  How can you be a negative human being if you are survivalist?

While it is true we head on face disaster and accept some of them are invertible we also understand that for the most part we control our own destiny.  It bothers me when I get emails from people who have clearly lost hope, I ask these people if you have no hope, why are your even worried about “survival”?

Join me today to discuss….

  • Why most survivalists are the most positive people in the world
  • Why we must prepare every bit as much for success as we do for failure
  • Why problems are less daunting if you know their solutions
  • Why money is just a symbol for energy and how that frees you if you understand it
  • Why your job or your next job is both important and meaningless
  • The role of “vision” in the lives of modern survivalists
  • The one undeniable truth that most people can not accept

Episode-264- The Core Concepts of The Survival Podcast Community

Once again I am off at DirtTime09 in California so I knocked out this show on a Friday afternoon a week ago and set it aside to fill in another day during my absence.

So what are we going to discuss today?  I thought it might be a good time to just back up a bit and talk about the unique concepts that we have developed together at The Survival Podcast.  Notice I said we not I because from day one the audience has been a huge part of not just the show but its’ development, direction and evolution.

Tune in today as I discuss…

  • How we have made “The Grasshopper and the Ant” part of modern survivalism
  • A quick retelling of the original story of the Grasshopper and the Ant”
  • How disaster commonality can eliminate worrying about exactly “what” we prepare for
  • What must we accept if we are to become prepared
  • What does it mean that a hungry family makes it into the news today?
  • What is “just in time” inventory and why should you care
  • The real danger of swine flu is that it makes real dangerous diseases take a back seat
  • Is the economy held together with duct tape or is that an insult to rednecks?
  • Why should we occasionally listen to the tin foil hat crowd
  • How to ask questions that lead people to prep rather then telling them they should prep
  • Why debt is cancer and such a statement is not hype
  • What I really think the plaque on the Statue of Liberty should say
  • Why making the decision to do something is more important then how you are going to get it done
  • Why preparing for a specific event, eventually leads to failure
  • Why preparing for nothing to go wrong is the way to prepare for anything that goes wrong
  • A new car or a second home, you have a choice

Episode-191- Survival Reaction Mentality

Today we will continue to talk a bit more on swine flu or more accurately what is starting to look like a massive overreaction by government.  Our larger topic though is going to be about a simple question…

In a survival situation which response is better, a swift instinctual response or a well planned logical response?

With that in mind today’s show notes are very brief just tune in and hear my take on this question along with an interesting story about what I learned when I coughed (more accurately cleared my throat) at Starbucks recently.  Another quick question what do you think is more dangerous right now, the flu or the response to it by government and the general public?
