Today we take a look at why we prep, what we prep for and the most important question any person evaluating current theats can ask themselves.
Tune in today to hear…
The big question is “what if”, and it unlocks the game plan for survival
Using the pandemic disease threat to unlock the fact that the cause is less important then the threat itself
Bridging the gap between the tin foil hat world and the more practical survivalists, why is less important that the fact that the results of potential disasters are the same
Taking action is only valid if the action is appropriate, asking what if makes you run a scenario and makes you see where your weak and what you would do if a plan fails
Why prepping for various disasters is always 90% the same actions no matter what the threat is
Why slow and steady preps make a difference and getting paranoid results is failure
Could there be a global war, would it result in rationing, curfews, etc. it has before
A 12 year old asks, could a war come here
Why now is the time to get serious and stay level headed

This is a question I think many people in the survivalist community hear from those that tend to stereotype us all as separatist militia tin foil hat types. My view is that survivalists and survival philosophies take many forms.
Tune in today to hear…
How the lifestyle of a modern survivaist is not that much different then many typical people
Why survivalism makes sense even if society doesn’t fully break down ever
What living in the moment can teach us when we do it the right way
How planting seeds, shooting a pistol or fishing can teach us true focus
How survivalism is often about simply “being human”
Focusing on what you can control vs. what you have concern about
How you see more of a natural human state the further you get from large cities
Understanding our natural role on earth regardless of your religion or lack there of
How to decrease fear so you can make smarter and better decisions
How to develop your personal survival philosophy

How can growing a garden prevent the United States from falling into a socialist and global form of control? Believe it or not it can. In February of 2008 a startling fact was reveled; The United States is now a “net importer of food”, meaning we are no longer able to feed ourselves with our own resources. While you can’t produce oil in your back yard or stem the tide of cheap manufacturing from China in your garage this is something anyone can do something about if they choose to. Tune in today to hear,
How our conversion to a net food importer is very similar to our status as a net oil importer
How oil imports started climbing in the 50s and then outweighed native production by 1990
Comparing the value of a garden to 20 gallons of gasoline a month (what would you do to produce the gas)
Exactly what do Patriotism and Gardening have to do with each other
How a dependence on foreign will always result eventually in diplomatic and military conflicts
How a food deficit is far worse then an oil deficit
How the food deficit could combine with the declining dollar, diplomatic problems and peak oil
The real “magic beans” that you can buy for a few bucks
The 30 Foot Salad vs. the 3000 Mile Salad
Why we don’t have to let this final global dependence happen to our nation and why we need to take action
How even a small garden can produce more then you can eat at one time
The real value of a small garden in dollars
Spreading gardening and permaculture to your neighborhood
The loss of great farming communities in places like Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York
The loss of gardening as a true skill
What we can learn about food production from the tragic history of U.S. Manufacturing and Oil Production
How loosing our ability to feed ourselves could take away the last of our autonomy in the Global market place
If your grandparents, great grandparents and parents did this, so can we
I have been on a real tear about the economy and the 700 Billion Dollar Bail Out, AIG Buyout, etc lately. I decided it was time to shift gears and go into a totally different topic. Today we will go over what I feel are a few of today’s best values in firearms for everything from collecting, to self defense to putting meat on the table. I do still have a few things about the economy as well.
Please note I called the Auto Loan Bailout a 50 Billion dollar bail out, it is a 25 Billion Dollar Bail out at least in round one, they do plan to give them another 25 billion down the road. Sorry for the error.
Tune in today to hear my thoughts on…
The Economy
While we focus on the 700 Billion the Congressional Clows drop 25 Billion on the Automakers to bail them out
My alternative plan yesterday was a “”better way to do it” not what we should do, no bail outs is the right answer
If it does fall, do you really know what it will be like? Do the sheeple? What will it mean?
Be careful what you wish for
Call your senators and congress clowns, tell them what you think, not what I think
On Values in Firearms
A bit on what exactly “surplus firearms” are
The Mosin Nagant M44 (awesome value under 100 bucks)
The Yugo SKS, still affordable if you want one buy now
The 303 Enfield, still some affordable ones around, outstanding quality
The Civilian Marksmanship Program at its’ requirements
The M1 Carbine is gone in the surplus market, missed opportunity!
The M1 Garand is still out there under 500 dollars via CMP
The 1917 Enfield in 30-06 get one while you can
The 1917 Barreled action 200 bucks for an amazing base to a custom sporter
The Savage Rifle perhaps the best value for the money in a new or used bolt action sporting rifle
HI Point is more then a “ghetto glock”
The Hi Point 995 and 4095 carbines, more fun then a barrel of monkeys
The Bersa Thunder 380 a cheap carry gun carried by off duty police officers (249 retail)
Affordable used 38 Specials at gun shows, try about 100 bucks!
The NEF/H&R Handi Rifle how about a 22 hornet, 30-06, 45-70 and 12 gauge on one frame for under 500 bucks
The Marlin Lever gun, looked for used ones they still usually have a life time of service in them
The Remington 870 Express, great deal, most popuplar and proven pump gun ever
The Mossberg pumps, another great option
Stay away from “tactical shotguns” – I explain why
Still a place for the single shot gun, brand new, 80 bucks and proven, safe and reliable

I have been getting a lot of emails from people that are “freaking out” about the new developments in the economy, the 700 Billion dollar bailout and general break down of our economic system. This is not the time to “freak out” or be scared it is now time to up your preps and get your head right.
Tune in today to hear…
How this 700 Billion dollar bail out is more debt and will devalue your money
Should you pull your money from stocks, take the would you buy it today test
No bonuses for the executives of failed companies
This ship is sinking but it isn’t the Titanic, take your time exiting and stay calm
Time for “rice and beans in a bucket”
Thoughts on “doubling up with family or friends” – it may not be a bad idea
Silver is one investment not an end all be all
Keeping some cash on hand
Increase your income and decrease your expenses and save, save, save
Dave Ramsey gets it wrong on “500 Trades from Armageddon”
Why people like Dave Ramsey CAN’T tell you to get out of the market even if they want to
A stock market “crash” does not mean zero
How a declining “US Empire” may be the gold lining to this huge mess
How this decline will be an opportunity for the informed and prepared
The election this time equals punched from the right with a metal glove or punched from the left with a barbwire wrapped boxing mitt, both will suck.
How the messages to each side (right/left) are always tailored to the polarized audiences
How the bail out is actually uniting the left and the right and the center, will they figure out that we all agree and let their congress critters know about it?
Where this 700 Billion is coming from
If you are poor and living poor you will be OK, if you are middle class and living that way you will be OK, if you are rich you will be OK the people in danger are the middle class who live as though they are rich.
In tough times the Ants harvest the “Grasshopper Graveyard”
When the economy takes a dump, good deals will be everywhere
Preserve, build and store your money and commodities and you will sale through most of this
Claim the life you really want, right now
The don’t buy for 48 hours challenge – take it and it will change your view of money
The psychology of a savings account vs a checking account
Today we discuss why survivalists are “preparing” in the first place. Starting out with an old fable we tell the original version of The Lesson of the Grasshopper and the Ant and move on to seven threats and how the prepping for them all is quite similar.
Tune in today to hear…
How we have changed the classic tale of the Ant and the Grasshopper and how it has impacted America
The real threat of depression or recession
The reality of a true eventual economic collapse
The impact of “climate change” independent of man’s part in it
The fact that “normal climate” is a myth and the little “perfect bubble” we have had for two centuries
The impact potential of pandemic flu or some other form of pandemic
The impact of regional weather disasters
The threat of a Tsunami on both our east and west coasts
The eventuality of “peak oil”
How “Preppers” are not crazy and why what we do makes sense
The contributions of the “tin foil hat brigade” and how even they are not totally crazy
The reality that preparing for all the above threats is very similar

Starting From Zero – Are you new to the survival mind set? Have you realized that even if there is not a major world disaster that a regional or local emergency could impact you at any time? If so this is the episode for you, it will help you get the basics of setting up a 1 week, 2 week and 1 month emergency plan and a basic evacuation plan.
We heard an awful lot of blame handed to an awful lot of people over the disaster after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. That happened on August 29th, 2005, almost three years ago. Over the years we have heard a lot about the “lessons learned” as in how the government can do a better job in the future and a bit on at least people being more responsive to evacuation orders.
That said I think many of the real lessons of Katrina and other disasters have yet to be learned by the average person, here are the things I think we should all take away from and take to heart about the reality that Katrina exposed in America.
Unlike many survival minded individuals I don’t believe that we are going to see an overnight dooms day scenario playing out. Instead over the coming years I think we will see a slow and steady downward spiral of what we currently consider modern society.
This episode outlines why I think it is coming, what it will mean for the average person and what we should be doing to prepare for it.
This is our first edition and it simply lays out the goals, objectives and philosophies that the Survival Podcast is Based on. Out goal is to help people determine how they most want to live regardless of what happens around them. We call that lifestyle planning and it easily integrates with proper survival and emergency planning and achieving your survival goals and your lifestyle goals as well.
