Tweezerman Professional Stainless Steel Toenail Clippers – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is Tweezerman Professional Stainless Steel Toenail Clippers.  This may seem like an odd item but well, it is something we all need and something that serves multiple functions.

There is the obvious function, cutting nails and I use these for both toe and fingers nails.  I have always found most toe nail clippers to be for well, I guess children and women.  I have had them come apart and even one time break, I mean the metal cracked.

Next if you don’t keep a set or two of clippers in your fishing gear you either don’t have fishing gear or you are missing out.  I keep a set of these in each of my tackle boxes, so no matter which one I grab I always have them.  Sure you can cut fishing line just fine with a knife but no tool on the planet is better for trimming up rigging then clippers.

Lastly I don’t know what it is but there are three things I lose more than anything else.  They are in order sharpie markers, tape measures and nail clippers.  I just don’t get it, I am talking not leaving a room or a garage, having just had it in my hand and fing GONE LIKE A FART IN THE WIND.  Sometimes they show up, a day, week or month later, sometimes they are gone forever.

I tend not to believe in the super natural but if their are gnomes or some such shit that steals things, they must adore pens, tape measures and nail clippers.   So I want a quality clipper but I also want one that when, not if I lose it, I am not going to be too upset about it.  At $6.68 a piece when I need more I usually buy 2-6 at a time.

Right now I am down to the ones in my tackle boxes and one pair in my medicine cabinet.   Perhaps I should put a rat trap next to it and see if those little gnomes really exist?  In any event for your nail care and your tackle box at this price the Tweezerman Professional Stainless Steel Toenail Clippers just can’t be beat.

Easehold Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day is the Easehold Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser.  I got a lot of questions about a diffuser for essential oils after one of my podcasts on getting started with herbalism.  Essential oils are one of my favorite way to use herbs, to understand why let me explain what a REAL essential oil is.

You know when you walk but a hedge of roses when the sun is hitting them and you get that amazing smell, when that happens you are experiencing essential oils in nature.  An oil is “essential” in the sense that it contains the “essence of” the plant’s fragrance—the characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it is derived.

Essential oils are made by distillation and it takes a lot of an herb to produce a small amount of oil. For instance to make a pound of lavender essential oil you will need about 200 pounds of lavender flowers to do so.  And lavender is pretty heavy as many herbs go, for instance if you want a pound of rose oil it will take 2000-5000 pound of roses to do the job depending on the rose type.

Want a pound of oregano essential oil, well you’ll need about 1,000 pounds of oregano to get the job done.  Bringing it down a bit smaller, if you want say one ounce of peppermint oil you will need only about 5 lbs of peppermint.  Or if you want just an ounce of that oregano oil you will still need about 60-65 pounds of fresh oregano.

This is why essential oils can seem expensive, and this is why when you see an essential oil and it is cheap, it likely isn’t pure essential oil and you should not buy it.

So why a diffuser, what does that do for you?  Sure it makes the house smell nice but are there any other real benefits.  Okay before I continue, to protect myself from the almighty dot gov, I have to say, I am not a doctor, nothing that follows is intended to cure, prevent or treat disease, it is only my opinion.  Ya gotta love our freedom in this nation don’t ya?

So here it goes, I feel that one of the first things a diffuser can do is promote more restful sleep.  This is critical to health in my opinion for obvious reasons.  Diffusers have also been shown to improve respiratory health and when used with some herbs boot natural immune responses.    I personally find they improve my mental focus and clarity especially when I am distracted.

Additionally many essential oils are antivirals, antibiotics, antiseptics, etc.  so they help kill germs and bacteria.  Finally they are just beneficial to your overall emotional health in my opinion.  In fact I think a lot of people on dangerous medications would be better off using essential oils and a bit of daily relaxing and meditation, or at least give that a try before committing to a life time of using a drug with more side effects than benefits according to the people that make it.

Now why the Easehold Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser .  I mean there are literally thousands of models why this one.  First check the reviews, frankly I am getting depressed with how many effing fake ass reviews are on Amazon, especially with any electronic product, but not this one.  5500 reviews, 4.5 stars over all and an A Grade on Fakespot.com.

Next looks, I mean this thing just looks nice.  It doesn’t look like some weird space age thing or some funky medical device, it is well suited to be in any home and match any rooms look and feel.  The lights are nice and make it look cool as well, but that doesn’t personally do much for me.  I do love that it has a built in timer and that it is very easy to set, in fact all the controls are very intuitive.

Lastly it just works, again as always I am out for a solid value to price ratio.  This one has it.  So check out the Easehold Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser today, it really will make you feel better in my view and guys, damn cool gift if I do say so myself.

P.S. – I know there will be a ton of “what oils should I get”.  I really tend to buy a specific oil for a specific reason.  I use oregano because it is such a great anti viral, I use peppermint because it makes you mentally clear and frankly I just like it, etc.  But there is no harm in experimenting.  So as you learn about an herb, just get some good oil of it and try it out.  However as a great starter set this one is really good, It comes with 16 Essential Oils.

You will get 18 oils to try including, lavender, tea tree, peppermint, lemongrass, sweet orange, eucalyptus, pine, tangerine, rosemary, frankincense, lime, lemon, bergamot, patchouli, grapefruit and cinnamon.  The cost on this set is only 36 bucks and added to the diffuser it really does make an awesome gift I think anyone would appreciate.

Wahl Senior #8501 Professional Clippers – Item of the Day

Every day I bring you an item on Amazon that I personally use or has been purchased by many members of the audience and I have researched enough to recommend.

Today’s TSP Amazon Item of the day the Wahl Senior #8501 Professional Clippers.  If you follow me on facebook you know I don’t spend a lot of time trimming my beard.  I tend to let it go until Dorothy tells me I am “starting to look like the crazy guy hiding in the mountains they put on TV once in a while again” and then I trim it up a bit.

So you may imagine that the fact that I have had 3 different consumer level trimmers fail over the last 8 years might be a bit annoying.  I mean what the hell, I use a tool that most would use daily once every say 2 weeks and it can’t survive 5 years?  Really?  Junk!  Fricken junk!

I was lamenting this to my barber during my last hair cut (something I do about once every three months) and she plopped a Wahl Senior into my hands and said, “Just get one of these, they come with all the attachments and feel how sturdy they are.  I use this thing all day, every day, 6 days a week, so do all the others in this shop, I have yet to see one fail”.  My response was, “really so I guess they are like a few hundred bucks or something”.  She said, “no they are like 80-90 dollars, and you will never need to buy another one”.

What?!  WTF!  My last trimmer set was like 60 bucks, I got what I thought was the best and this beast is only 80-90 bucks.  She told me to order the #8501 because it would come with “all the attachments you will ever need and none of the stuff you will never use anyway”.

When I got home I pulled out my laptop and checked Amazon and damn if she wasn’t right (well it is her profession) and I picked up this thing for 86 bucks with free shipping.  I used a #4 attachment and gave the old beard a quick trim, took off the attachment and cleaned up the lines, shaved my neck, etc.  Hit the stubble quickly with my razor and done.

It is a bigger tool than I am used to for this, so it took a bit of use to be confident that I wasn’t going to “Reverse Mohawk” my beard but it works just fine and you get comfortable with it really fast.  About the only thing that really takes a bit of skill is mustache trimming.  But I just hit what I can with the attachment on then pop it off and free hand around the nose holes and lip line.

If you are so inclined and have a qualified member of the household you can certainly do you own haircuts using this tool, it is the main thing my barber uses hers for.  I will stick to my quarterly trip to a pro for that though thanks.

The power of these clippers is impressive, they fricken recoil when you turn them on! So if you are tired of junky consumer level clippers and trimmers and want to make a one time purchase and never worry about such things again check out the Wahl Senior #8501 Professional Clippers.

About the only maintenance you will need to do is routine cleaning and oiling along with popping in a replacement blade once in a while.  My barber says even with daily use a blade should last an individual over 2 years, and with a smirk  that it would last me at least 5.  They are only 20 bucks to replace and it only takes a few seconds to do it.
