Episode-173- Do You Hide Who You Are

If you listen to this podcast you are probabally a survivalist on one level or another.  Some are simple homesteader types that live in the country and try to be self sufficient.  Some are more the sterotype and into beans, bullets and bandaids.  Still others live in urban areas, work typical jobs and just make sure they have some extra food, supplies, etc around incase something goes wrong.

My question though is “do you hide who you are”?  Clearly I can’t, by doing this show I must put myself out there.

Yesterday this show and I were featured in the Sunday Edition of the Fort Worth Star Telegram.  The article prompted a lot of questions from listeners such as “is it really wise to tell people you prep”?  Today’s show discusses that issue and many others stirred up by the article.

If you want to comment on this today is a day where you really may want to listen to the audio of the show first.

Episode-152- Dealing With Anti Survivalist Stigma

Today’s show covers the anti survivalist stigma that modern survivalists must face in main stream society.  Are you tired of being depicted as a “right wing militia gun nut locked up in a religious compound praying for the end or modern society so you can live off your cases of peanut butter while everyone else starves”?

Honestly I don’t care about how people think about me as an individual, I am who I am with my pholosophy out there for anyone to examine and embrace, ignore or criticize.  I do however, care a great deal about many people that know something isn’t right about how we are living today as a society and want to know more but are put off by how the media and society potrays us.

Today’s show covers how to discuss modern survival philosphies with the uninitiated and get easily past the stigma and hopefully help more people live a better life, “if times get tough or even if they don’t”.

Episode-125- Mental Simulations of Disaster Scenarios

Today we take a look at why we prep, what we prep for and the most important question any person evaluating current theats can ask themselves.

Tune in today to hear…

  • The big question is “what if”, and it unlocks the game plan for survival
  • Using the pandemic disease threat to unlock the fact that the cause is less important then the threat itself
  • Bridging the gap between the tin foil hat world and the more practical survivalists, why is less important that the fact that the results of potential disasters are the same
  • Taking action is only valid if the action is appropriate, asking what if makes you run a scenario and makes you see where your weak and what you would do if a plan fails
  • Why prepping for various disasters is always 90% the same actions no matter what the threat is
  • Why slow and steady preps make a difference and getting paranoid results is failure
  • Could there be a global war, would it result in rationing, curfews, etc. it has before
  • A 12 year old asks, could a war come here
  • Why now is the time to get serious and stay level headed

Episode-121- Pandemic Flu and Global Disease Threats

Today we discuss a subject that has been in and out of vogue in main stream media, the threat of Global Pandemic Avian Flu (H5N1) and other disease pandemic and epidemic potential threats.

Tune in today to hear about…

  • What does H5N1 mean, what are the meanings of H and N in flu varients
  • What is a “clade” and how does it apply to flu strains
  • A vaccine resistant “clade 7″ varient of H5N1 has turned up in Beijing China
  • There is a small human cluster of Avian Flu in Vietnam
  • There has just been a death in Egypt in Egypt and Cambodia
  • Large poultry infections are present in India and Bangladesh
  • A baby in Hong Kong has just contracted H9N2 (another type of avian flu)
  • H5N1s death rate is 56%, the death rate of the Spanish Flu was only 2.5%
  • A different threat, what about an animal or insect pandemic
  • Considering bugging out, do you have a quarantine area
  • What prior disasters can teach us about human arrogance and denial

Episode-41- Thoughts on Flu Pandemic and Survival Planning for Disease Outbreaks

I recently received a request to do a show on the potential risk of an influenza outbreak (global flu pandemic) and was able to quickly put a show together on it. What is interesting is that the governments official advice is remarkably similar to the fundamental preparations that survivalists discuss every day.

I encourage you to take this threat seriously because a pandemic is one of those risks that is not an “if” but simply a “when” and by what particular means. Tune into todays show to hear my thoughts on,

  • The shocking death statistics from three pandemics in the last 100 years from flu outbreaks
  • The high death rate of infected parties by the H5N1 Avian Flu
  • Why world governments are truly alarmed by the potential out break of the bird flu
  • Why we can’t create a vaccine for a flu strain until it is really to late
  • Why we have not yet had a case of avian flu in the U.S.
  • The real economic impact of a true flu or other pandemic
  • The real need for a quarantine in such an outbreak even a government enforced one
  • Why food storage is so important for this potential threat
  • Why even the power grid and water system may be at risk
  • The people most at risk to the economic threat that will come from the flu threat
  • Why your job is at risk and how you have no protection from termination during a quarntine
  • The importance of having the choice to self quarantine before one is ordered
  • The fantasy land some people live in that denies the horrific reality of a true pandemic
  • Why the aftermath will be something the government can’t “bail us out of”
