I see and hear versions of this admittedly extreme version of why survivalists are nuts all the time. I just talked to a guy that pointed out how “we were all gonna die from swine flu” and it turned out to be nothing but “a bunch of bullshit”. I guess he hadn’t listened to my show called, “Lessons From the Non Event of Swine Flu“.
It is really common though for the average person to look at a “prepper” or “survivalist” and wonder why we in their minds waste money and resources. The reality is we actually save money and maximize resources it all depends on how you look at things. As I said from day one, modern survivalism is about “living a better life if times get tough, or even if they don’t”. Is it really possible though, you bet.
Join me today as we discuss…
- The myth, the world must end as we know it for preparedness to pay off
- The well it won’t happen to me bias, the why and dangers behind it
- Why debt elimination must be part of the plan or the naysayers may be right about you
- Why you never lose money storing food if you do it with sanity
- The value of “alternative energy” even just at the property value level
- Gun ownership is like voting, exercise the right or you may very well lose it
- Having some gold and silver is something every rich guy I know does, so why not you too
- A garden improves physical health, improves mental health and can increase property values
- Only the ignorant would say being informed is a bad idea
- Help me out, what is the “down side” in this survivalist thing

thought it might be a good time to just back up a bit and talk about some the unique concepts that we have developed together at The Survival Podcast. Notice I said we not I because from day one the audience has been a huge part of not just the show but its’ development, direction and evolution.
Tune in today as I discuss…
- Why made “The Grasshopper and the Ant” part of modern survivalism
- A quick retelling of the original story of the Grasshopper and the Ant”
- How disaster commonality can eliminate worrying about exactly “what” we prepare for
- What must we accept if we are to become prepared
- Why the media shows us horrors but always then says, “everything is just fine”
- Why and how the abundance in our stores isn’t abundant at all
- Why we can’t rely on government during a disaster even though they do try to help
- Why the economy can’t recover long term with out a complete overhaul (crash)
- Why conspiracy theorists are not always wrong even when they aren’t right either
- Three questions that open the door to discuss prepping with others
- Do you think we could ever have a real pandemic?
- Do you think that if we did they would quarantine people?
- If that happened how long could you stay well fed and comfortable?
- Why debt and survivalism are mutually exclusive
- Why preparing for a specific event, eventually leads to failure
- Why preparing for nothing to go wrong is the way to prepare for anything that goes wrong
- What do you want, what do you really want, what if God asked you to be happy?

Today we examine the commonalities of three very different disasters. Today we look at a potential major solar storm with a huge coronal mass ejection, a massive ice storm and a global pandemic. While these disasters seem quite different their impacts are very similar only duration is a major variable. Last for today we end with a thought, “is the zombie apocalypse already here?”, I say yes it is. Tune in to find out what I mean and see if you agree.
Tune in today as we examine…
- Why is a solar storm a big threat
- What have scientists learned about our magnetosphere that changes everything
- Is there a hole in the magnetosphere, if so what does that mean
- What would a pandemic with a 25% infection rate and 10% death rate look like
- If 7.5 million people need a hospital bed what happens
- What happens if we have a major ice storm
- How big can an ice storm be
- The common needs, food, shelter, energy
- The advice from The Today Show, you won’t believe this
- Are you a zombie, do you know zombies, is the apocalypse here
- Can you be living in the middle of absolute disaster and not know it

Today we are going to discuss storing food for both acute and long term survival needs. I find with people new to preparedness it is one of the things they are interested in but often fail to take action on. There is one fundamental though, food is necessary for life, without it you are in real trouble.
Join me today as we discuss…
- The lack of vision many “disaster documentaries” have about food shortages
- What the real threat of pandemic teaches us about the need to store food
- Why you should start with the rule, store what you eat
- Utilizing the “opportunity buy”
- The role long term commercial storables play in your storage plan
- The value of cheap storables like wheat, barley, rice and their limitation
- The importance of protection from rodents
- The myth that a “garden makes you a target” any more then existing makes you a target
- Why you must become a producer
- The three levels of production and how they work together
- The holistic nature of a true long term food program
